What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2012 Harley-Davidson Fltru103, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Brakes
Reports naming service brakes, the antilock braking system, brake hoses, master cylinders or the parking brake.
From owner reports, verbatim
FRONT BRAKE COMPLETELY FAILED. THE BRAKE LEVER WAS UNMOVABLE AND THEREFORE THE FRONT BRAKES COULD NOT ENGAGE CAUSING AN UNSAFE SITUATION. WHEN DISCOVERED THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING SLOWLY FROM A PARKED POSITION AFTER I RODE THE MOTORCYCLE APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES AND IMMEDIATELY NOTICED BEFORE TRAVELLING IN TRAFFIC THEREFORE AVOIDING A DANGEROUS EVENT. I WAS ABLE TO STOP WITH BACK BRAKES BUT HAD TO REMOVE THE VEHICLE WITH A TRAILER BECAUSE IT IS UNSAFE TO RIDE A BIKE WITH NO FRONT BRAKES. I PHONED A LOCAL MOTORCYCLE REPAIR FACILITY AND THE MANAGER IMMEDIATELY TOLD ME THAT THE ABS HYDRAULIC CONTROL UNIT HAD FAILED AND IT IS VERY COMMON ON THOSE MODELS. THE PART COST WITHOUT LABOR WAS QUOTED AT $410. ## VIN PASSED ## HARLEY-DAVIDSON FLTRU 2012 ##
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
