2010 Harley-Davidson Fxd Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

BIKE HAS LESS THAN 4500 MILES ON IT. WHEN STOPPED AT A NORMAL TRAFFIC LIGHT EVEN FOR SHORT PERIODS OF TIME THE ENGINE PUTS OF SO MUCH HEAT THAT IM FORCED TO EITHER SHUT THE ENGINE OFF (MIGHT BE ILLEGAL) OR STAND UP AND LEAN THE BIKE SO I CAN GET MY LEG AWAY FROM THE MOTOR. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY IF HARLEY MANUFACTURES AN OIL COOLER + FAN FOR THESE WHY THEY WOULDN'T COME ON THE BIKE. IM NOT SURE WHAT DAMAGE THIS COULD CAUSE TO THE ENGINE BUT I DO KNOW THAT I HAVE COME VERY CLOSE TO BURNING MY INNER THIGH. WHEN I PAY AS MUCH MONEY FOR SOMETHING AS I DID THIS BIKE, I EXPECT IT TO LAST UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS FOR A LONG LONG TIME. IF THE HEAT ISSUE ISN'T FIXED I EXPECT TO HAVE A MAJOR FAILURE(BLOWN ENGINE) IN LESS THAN 20000 MILES. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FROM ANY MANUFACTURER, NOT JUST THE "AMERICAN" HARLEY. *KB

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
