2008 Harley-Davidson Fxdf Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

AFTER WARMING UP (E.G. 15-20 MILE RIDE), A SHRIEKING/HOWLING NOISE COMES FROM AREA OF RIGHT REAR. BRAKE ROTOR IS NOT OVERLY HOT, NOR IS THE HUB, WHICH WOULD POSS INDICATE HANGING CALIPER OR SEIZING BEARING. NOISE CONTINUES WITH CLUTCH ENGAGED AND ENGINE AT IDLE. IT CAN BE HEARD OVER EXHAUST WHILE ON THROTTLE. LESS THAN 3000 MILES, BOUGHT BRAND NEW, BUT AFRAID TO RIDE DUE TO NOISE. I HAVE OVER 45 YRS EXPERIENCE IN RIDING, RACING, ETC. BEEN TO DEALER TWICE FOR ISSUE, TOLD "NO PROBLEMS FOUND." DEALERSHIP HAS NOW CHANGED HANDS AND BIKE IS OBVIOUSLY TIMED OUT ON WARRANTY. HAS BEEN DOING THIS SINCE ABOUT 250 MILES, SINCE 2008. MULTIPLE DEPLOYMENTS IMPEDED TIMELY REPORTING OF ISSUE.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
