2022 Harley-Davidson Nightster (rh1250) Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

The directional lights(right and left) cancel before making the turn. Because intersections are inherently dangerous for motorcyclists, I feel it's unsafe to look down at my display to check if the signal light is flashing. I'm concerned about being rear ended because the left turn signal is no longer flashing. I bought the Nightster in February 2022 and didn't start riding it until April/May 2022. The problem existed immediately. The dealer where I purchased the motorcycle has ridden this motorcycle and has confirmed the problem. I have written three letters to Harley-Davidson and no corrective action has been taken. H-D didn't respond to my third letter. The dealer told me that H-D "opened a case" about this issue. Nothing has come of it. I mentioned this problem on a Nightster blog and several (10-20?) Nightster owners responded with the same problem. My Nightster has not been inspected by H-D corporate, police, or insurance company; only the dealer has inspected it. I also own a 2018 Harley Heritage Classic 107 and its signal lights cancel after the turn as expected.

This is on a motorcycle: The right hand turn signal/License plate vibrated off. July 5, 2024 I had just got back from my girlfriend’s house and I had planned on riding the bike to her house on Sunday. But, now the bike is un-rideable because the left side turn single and plate are precariously hanging towards the rear tire and drive area.

Vehicle had a no start 3 weeks after purchasing, dealer inspected said to charge battery. 2 weeks after getting bike back, no start again. Dealer picked up said right hand module was bad and was replaced. Same night we picked it up, bike had another no start. Dealer picked up and currently has in possession says it is once again right hand module which they had just fixed. No solution as of yet.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
