2005 Harley-Davidson Vrscse Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

AFTER TAKING A 65 MILE RIDE I STOPPED AT A GAS STATION NEAR MY HOME TO FILL IT UP. I ALWAYS FILL IT UP BEFORE I PUT IT AWAY. THE TANK WAS ABOUT HALF FULL. AS I TOOK THE GAS CAP OFF THE VACUUM ESCAPED AS USUAL. I SET THE GAS CAP DOWN AND STARTED TO REACH FOR THE GAS PUMP WHEN GAS ERUPTED LIKE A FOUNTAIN SHOOTING UP TWO FEET AND SPRAYING GASOLINE ALL OVER ME, THE GAS PUMP, THE BIKE AND EVERYWHERE FOR ABOUT FIVE TO EIGHT SECONDS. AT LEAST A PINT OR MORE SPRAYED OUT LEAVING A FOUR FOOT DIAMETER PUDDLE. I WAS '!@#$% LUCKY THAT THERE WAS A SOUTH WIND AND I HAD PARKED THE BIKE WITH THE EXHAUST PIPES TOWARD THE WIND, WHICH KEPT THE SPRAYING GAS AWAY FROM THE HOT EXHAUST. I AM SO THANKFUL THAT I AM NOT IN A BURN UNIT TODAY. *TR
