What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2012 Haul Master Trailer, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

TIRE SIDEWALLS RUB AGAINST THE METAL FENDER BRACKET WHEN TRAILER IS USED WITH LOAD OF 700 POUNDS. I HAD TIRE FAILURE AT 35 MILES PER HOUR. I FOUND HEAVY RUBBER MARKS AND SHARDS OF RUBBER FROM THE TIRE SIDEWALL ON BOTH FENDER BRACKETS ON EACH SIDE OF MY TRAILER. IN ADDITION TO THE RUBBING CONTACT, THE FENDER BRACKETS HAVE VERY SHARP EDGES THAT CAN CUT THE SIDEWALLS OF THE HIGH PRESSURE 80 PSI TIRE AND CAUSE A SUDDEN TIRE FAILURE. ON APRIL 30, 2014 HARBOR FREIGHT CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS CONTACTED BY EMAIL, PROVIDED PHOTOS AND WAS REQUESTED TO PROVIDE INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO FIX THIS SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM. HOWEVER RESPONSE WAS TO SUPPLY ME WITH GIFT CARD FOR TWO NEW WHEELS. DIGITAL PHOTOS AVAILABLE ON REQUEST.
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
