What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2003 Holiday Rambler Presidential, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HOLIDAY RAMBLER PRESIDENTIAL 5TH WHEEL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TRACK PROPERLY AND THE REAR SLIDES WERE NOT WORKING. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE REAR OF THE TRAILER WAS SAGGING APPROXIMATELY 6-8 INCHES AND THE FRAME FAILED ON BOTH SIDES OF THE REAR AXLE. HE NOTIFIED THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 04V483000 (STRUCTURE:FRAME AND MEMBERS). THE DEALER STATED THAT ALTHOUGH THE ENTIRE AXLE FAILED, THEY WOULD ONLY INSPECT AND ADD ADDITIONAL GUSSET PLATES AND CROSS TUBES TO STRENGTHEN THE AXLE SPRING HANGERS. THIS WOULD NOT REPAIR THE FAILED AXLE. THE CONTACT HAS NOT FILED A FORMAL COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE ENGINE SIZE, POWERTRAIN, AND NUMBER OF CYLINDERS WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 20,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 HOLIDAY RAMBLER PRESIDENTIAL COACH TRAILER. THE 4 TIRES ON THE 34 FT HOLIDAY RAMBLER 5TH WHEEL TRAILER WERE RUBBING AGAINST EACH OTHER, CAUSING THE TIRES TO SMOKE. THE TIRE SHOP STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THE 5TH WHEEL TRAILER BECAUSE THE AXLES WERE FALLING OFF THE TRAILER. THE 5TH WHEEL TRAILER WAS TOWED TO A TRAILER REPAIR SHOP 50 MILES AWAY. THE TRAILER MECHANIC STATED THAT RECALL#04V483000 WAS RELATED TO THE STRUCTURE AND FRAME FOR THIS TRAILER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WON'T HONOR THE RECALL SINCE THE ORIGINAL OWNER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL AND DIDN'T HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. *AK

WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY, A FIRE BROKE OUT ON OUR 2003 5TH WHEEL RV. IT WAS EXTINGUISHED QUICKLY BUT DESTROYED THE REFRIGERATOR AND DAMAGED THE CABINET NEXT TO IT. THERE WAS SMOKE DAMAGE AND SOME WATER DAMAGE AS WELL. THE REFRIGERATOR WAS ON LP MODE AS INSTRUCTED BY THE DEALER.*JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE PARKED THE DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE WENT FLAT. AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP SENT A TECHNICIAN WHO DETERMINED THAT THE TREAD SEPARATED. THE TIRE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALERSHIP AND REPLACED. THEN WHILE PARKED AT A REST AREA, THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR TIRE WENT FLAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS DETERMINED THE THREE REMAINING TIRES HAD TREAD SEPARATION. THOSE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE WENT FLAT AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT AND REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BOTH HAD TREAD SEPARATION. THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL TIRE HAS BEEN USED EACH TIME. THE TIRE FAILURE CAUSED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE TRAVEL TRAILER, A 2003 HOLIDAY RAMBLER PRESIDENTIAL. *AK UPDATED 5/22/2006 - *NM
