2025 Honda Accord Hybrid Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Vehicle drove normally in the morning commute. In the afternoon commute it started normally and as i approached highway speeds the alarms started showing up. the Brake, hill descent system, abs, critical failure. the vehicle started losing speed and could not accelerate. Losing speed at highway speed was alarming and finally all dashboard went red with alert to stop driving and engine heating warming. Speed was in the range of 35-40 mph on a highway rated 70 mph. I had to pull over and tow car to dealership.

Crash reported1 injury reported

The contact owned a 2025 Honda Accord Hybrid. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 MPH and making a right turn onto the driveway, the vehicle unintendedly pulled to the left. The contact stated that while attempting to turn the steering wheel back to the intended direction, the vehicle accelerated unintendedly, and the brakes and the steering wheel were inoperable. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle crashed through the garage door, hit cabinets on the side, and drove on top of the cabinets, 3 inches from the ground, and stopped. The driver's side and passenger's side knee air bags deployed. The contact stated that the driver's side knee air bag deployed and broke the plastic underneath the dashboard, which injured the contact's legs. The emergency call (eCall) system activated and connected the contact with an operator, who then called an ambulance and the police on the contact's behalf. A police report was filed. Both the contact and her husband, who was occupying the front passenger's side seat, were transported to the Emergency Room by ambulance. The contact sustained Hematomas on both legs, and the contact's legs were swollen. The contact was admitted for 5 days and was discharged to a rehabilitation center. The contact's husband did not sustain any serious injuries. The vehicle insurance company towed the vehicle to a tow yard. The dealer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to the manufacturer. The manufacturer advised the contact that the vehicle insurance company would need to file a claim with the manufacturer; however, the insurance company had already deemed the vehicle a total loss and had sold the parts of the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 5,300.

Concerned about a knocking/creaking type noise made at stop and low speeds when turning the steering wheel. This seems to be a common issue and Honda hasn't acknowledged the issue publicly. But I'm concerned about letting it go long term if American Honda does not want to provide a rack replacement.

While driving ~70 mph on highway on adaptive cruise control, the car suddenly LOST ALL POWER/ACCELERATION, including POWER STEERING and ALL WARNING LIGHTS FLASHED ON THE DASHBOARD. I recalled some were BREAK SYSTEM, ACC, ABCS, CHECK ENGINE, POWER, TPMS...etc. Essentially any warning light Accord has was flashing. The car slowed with no power steering, I managed to parked on the shoulder and turned on hazard light. This is extremely dangerous as the highway traffic was extremely heavy. After I parked, I pressed the ENGINE START/STOP button thinking I needed to "turn it off" but the car already had lost power at that point anyway. After pressing it a couple times, the car restarted and I drove to the dealer with one error message remaining on the dashboard - "Emission system problem. Power may be reduced. See you dealer." and the CHECK ENGINE light was on.

Seat belts
Filed Oct 5, 2025

My 7 year old grandson was in the left rear seat and became trapped within the seatbelt, like a noose, cinching tighter and tighter causing extreme abdominal pain and trouble breathing. This occurred when the vehicle was stopped in a parking lot, AFTER THE RELEASE of the belt from the latch. He was in a booster seat with the belt across his lap and chest. To release the clasp from the latch, he had to bend over and twist his torso to his right, reaching way down to where the red relates button is almost buried between the left and center seat sections. Quite hard. At that point, the chest portion of the belt slipped over and behind his head as he was trying and trying to press the red release button. When he released the seat belt from the latch, the belt tightened across his lap and he couldn’t get out. While struggling, the belt kept retracting into the top back of the seat, getting tighter and tighter.. He pushed the booster out from under him, only for the seat belt mechanism to get tighter and tighter. 4 adults struggled, every move made it tighter and tighter. The belt had to be cut to release the child.. We are very concerned about this situation as his breathing and abdominal area was in critical distress. Why wouldn’t the seat belt allow us to pull it out of the retractor at the top left of the seat? We would like Honda to repair this at no cost to us, the car is less than 4 months old.

When traveling on an Interstate Highway in the left lane of a 2-lane highway with the Adaptive Cruise Control turned on. Passing a tractor trailer going slower in the right lane, the car will apply the brakes unexpectedly. The dash will briefly show a "ghost" truck crossing into the left lane. The unexpected braking causes any vehicle behind the Accord to brake. Putting those vehicles and any behind them at risk. Smart Honda of Des Moines looked at the car on Sept. 22, 2025 reported no error codes and nothing could be done. If the Accord hugs the far left shoulder, no "ghost" breaking occurs. If the Adaptive Cruise Control is turn off and regular Cruise Control is turned on, no "ghost" braking occurs.

Vehicle makes rattling noises while accelerating similar to a diesel engine also rough transitions between EV mode and Gas mode also when you press the charge button the engine makes a very noticeable jerk once it’s on ,Honda does not want to fix my issue and says everything is normal and cannot replicate the issue!! There is clearly something wrong I suspect fuel injector issues as others reported but dealer does not want to take accountability.

The car was in cruise control going 73mph on the freeway. I was passing a semi on the left hand side. When I was parallel to the semi, the car brakes hard and a big "BRAKE" light came on the cluster. There were no cars in front of me and luckily no one behind me. If there was a car behind me there would have been a collision. It was a clear day and again the road was clear. It took me from 70 to about 40 mph until I hit the accelerator to get back to speed. The CMBS is faulty and I will take it in to a dealer asap.

On July 14, 2025, our 2025 Honda Accord was serviced at Hall Honda Virginia Beach for a TPMS warning. The repair was marked complete under warranty by 12:24 PM. We picked up the car [XXX] at 7:30 AM. By 4:32 PM, the passenger-side tire catastrophically failed no TPMS alert, no impact, no pothole, just sudden sidewall rupture. This was not a minor issue; it was a failure of a federally mandated safety system. Had it occurred at highway speed, it could have resulted in wrongful death due to service negligence. We towed the car back that night (Visit #2). The next morning, advisor Tito blamed us: “You must have hit something.” He then offered to replace the rim and tire under warranty and gave us two options a fast repair or a “proper” 3-day one. Framing a potentially fatal failure as a customer convenience choice is reckless. We picked the car up again July 21. On [XXX] at 3 PM, the TPMS failed again this time throwing a calibration warning. This was Visit #3. I returned to ask why it failed again. Tito grew defensive and again blamed us for the initial tire failure. I wasn’t there for that I was reporting a second failure of the same safety system. There was no concern shown that the car had been returned unsafe multiple times. No apology, no accountability just blame deflection and hostility. As of July 25, the TPMS still does not work. A fourth visit is now required. This is a repeat failure of a safety-critical system required under FMVSS 138, mishandled with negligence and denial. It is only luck—not competence—that prevented serious harm or death. While driving a 2025 Honda Accord Hybrid with approximately 2300 miles on it at a speed of 40 mph, with nothing above the vehicle and no vehicles within a quarter mile of the vehicle, the sunroof glass exploded over the roof of the car and onto the highway. The sound was like a missile hitting the car. Fortunately the sunroof inner sliding panel was closed and no glass entered the passenger compartment. About a third of the glass went onto the highway and the remaining part shattered on top of the car. Pictures were taken of the car. I contacted Honda and a case was opened. I was instructed to take the vehicle to a Honda Dealer for inspection. The dealer agreed that the explosion was not due to any act of mine or outside cause and the glass was replaced under my warranty. My concern is that the glass totally shattered and though the three passengers in the car were not injured, had the sliding panel under the glass been open, there would have been serious consequences. I believe that Honda should put some sort of impact glass on the sunroof that will not shatter.

The brake system, it is in the repair shop. I could not stop the car, had I been on the highway I hate to think what could have happened to me or others. No, it has not been reproduced. It is in the repair shop. No, it is in the repair shop. No, there was no warning lights or messages or problems prior to this. I was pulling into a parking space at work in the parking garage and as I pushed down on the brake pedal the brake did not stop the car it made it accelerate at a very high rate, and I ran into the concrete wall

I was sitting at a red light in my 2025 Honda Accord Sport that I bought brand new about six months ago when I heard a loud explosion and saw a piece of glass fall on my windshield. I could then hear glass cracking over my head. I got out my vehicle and observed the moon roof glass to be completed shattered. I drove straight to the Honda service center where I purchased the vehicle and was told that is was most likely due to heat. The mechanic advised he has the same vehicle and the same thing happened to him. Then I was told that I would have to go through my insurance because that isn't covered by their warranty. Currently waiting to hear back from the manager. Clearly this was caused by a defect and should be corrected by Honda.

My sunroof exploded. I was driving north on I-35 in the Kansas City metro. I heard an actual explosion, then the sound of shrapnel washing over my vehicle. I wasn't sure it was me at first. Nothing hit the car. I noticed a new noise like passing (raggedy) wind and started to slide the sunroof "cover" back and you could see the glass had exploded outward. Had I not had the sunroof shade closed I, and the inside of the car, would've been covered in glass.

Friday May 30th, I was driving to work on the interstate. No cars/rocks or anything was in my path and all of a sudden the sunroof glass shattered causing glass to go everywhere. It alerted me so badly luckily I didn’t react in a way that could’ve been deadly. I had my shade cover back exposing the glass so when it just so suddenly shattered, glass entered inside the car. Honda is saying this is normal and it’s costing $845 to replace and I haven’t had this car a year and it’s shattered already?

When car has been stopped, in traffic or parking lot, the parking/emergency brake has engaged automatically (NOT engaged manually or intentionally by driver) and will not disengage automatically when accelerator is pressed to go forward. It is difficult to disengage the brake when this occurs. This has happened on 3 occasions. The safety risk for crash includes being hit from behind if brake engages unintentionally in traffic or on highway, or potentially sudden unintentional stopping while driving at moderate or high speeds. The issue was reported to dealer after twice occurring and full DTC check performed. Dealer says all diagnostics normal and could not identify any problems with parking/emergency brake or Collision Mitigation Braking System. The issue has occurred one time since the dealer inspection. The red light on the emergency break switch (console) comes on when this occurs, but no prior warning lamps or messages.

Was driving about 30 mph and lost all power. Warning lights came on the dash; TPMS, BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE, CONTACT DEALER, several others that I don't remember. Pulled onto a side road so as not to get hit from behind. Was able to roll to a stop and put on hazards. Called roadside assistance for a tow to dealer where bought. While driving approximately 30mph the car lost all accelleration/power and slowed to a stop while still in Drive. First, this put me in an extremely DANGEROUS position in the middle of an extremely busy highway with cars almost hitting me several times. Dashboard displayed numerous flashing error messages. Some that I recall were: Low Tire Pressure TPMS, ABS, BRAKE SYSTEM, Power, and HOLD. I put the car in park and Drive again and it still wouldn't move. After turning it off and back on, I continued to have "BRAKE SYSTEM Brake system problems. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. i." displayed. The car did resume driving functions and allowed me to get out of middle of road. Once stopping again and recycling, the warning signals went out and I drove home.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
