The defect: THE THREADED INSERT FOR THE OIL FILTER RETAINING BOLT MAY NOT BE STRONG ENOUGH TO WITHSTAND THE STRESS CAUSED BY TEMPERATURE AND PRESSURE, PARTICULARLY IN THE EVENT THAT THE OIL FILTER BOLT HAS BEEN OVERTIGHTENED.
The remedy: DEALER WILL INSTALL A DIFFERENT TYPE OIL FILTER BOLT OF INCREASED STRENGTH.

The defect: IF THE COUNTERSHAFT OIL SEAL IS SUBJECTED TO EXTREME OIL PRESSURE VARIATION, THE COUNTERSHAFT OIL SEAL MAY BE SPLIT, ALLOWING OIL TO LEAK. LEAKING OIL CAN COME INTO CONTACT WITH THE REAR TIRE, WHICH CAN RESULT IN TRACTION REDUCTION.
The remedy: COUNTERSHAFT OIL SEAL WILL BE REPLACED AND A MODIFIED "OIL PATH BODY" WILL BE INSTALLED TO REDUCE THE OIL PRESSURE AT THE COUNTERSHAFT OIL SEAL. REPAIRS WILL BE PERFORMED AT NO CHARGE TO OWNER.

Safety investigation
NHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
