I am reporting repeated electronic safety system malfunctions in my 2023 Honda Civic Sport sedan that occurred while driving at highway speeds and present a serious safety concern. In June 2025, while driving at highway speed, multiple warning lights and messages suddenly appeared, including: Brake System Warning, Road Departure Mitigation System Warning, Parking Brake/Brake Hold Warning, and Adaptive Cruise Control Warning. These warnings appeared simultaneously without prior notice, raising concern about whether the braking and safety systems were functioning properly while the vehicle was in motion. I took the vehicle to a Honda dealership for diagnosis. The dealer did not identify a specific electronic or mechanical defect and instead claimed the issue was caused by liquid spilled near the electronic parking brake switch. I was told the repair was not covered under warranty and paid approximately $600 out of pocket. No evidence was provided explaining how this would cause failures across multiple safety systems. In January 2026, the same group of warning lights appeared again under similar conditions while driving at highway speed. This recurrence strongly suggests the issue was not caused by driver error but may be related to an intermittent electronic, sensor, or control system defect. I have a scheduled dealer appointment tomorrow to address this second occurrence of electronic malfunctioning. Because these warnings involve critical braking and collision mitigation systems and occurred while the vehicle was in motion, they present a potential safety risk. I am submitting this complaint so NHTSA can document and evaluate whether this represents a broader safety defect.
I had checked in the Blue Book for resente repair in my used car It statement of previous repairs on the fron vender and tires. my concern is That it was not disclosure statement to me When I had asked they dealership sales person.. that they where a minor repairs caused by the previous owner hitting a rabbit.
I bought my car from Honda Civic on colerain avenue Cincinnati Ohio in 2023. In December 2024 I started having issue with my driver assistant technologies. My driver assistant technologies lights started flashing . As they were flashing none of my assistant technologies were working. When they finally went off it gave me a message to call the dealer. Which I did immediately. They told me to bring my vehicle in and they would check it. Service department calibrated the camera on the windshield. Picked my vehicle up about a month and a half after it happened again. Brought my vehicle in for the second time to the service department. Picked my [XXX] up for the second time. About a month and a half to two months and happen again. Vehicle in for the third time. They stated that it was a windshield that I had replaced by someone outside of Honda. They said I had to have my windshield replaced and also the camera by them. It cost me $1,000 for the windshield the camera was not charged to me. At this point it was like a guessing game. Picking my vehicle up for the third time. 2 months after picking it up the third time it did it again on [XXX]. I am looking for another Honda dealer to take it to to see if they could figure out what it's going on with that. I have all of my receipts. They can't seem to fix it at Honda Civic on colerain. I was told that if they couldn't fix that I would have to keep my vehicle as is. This is a safety hazard all I'm asking for is to have my vehicle and working condition. That is not happening. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I get a random warning that is an issue with the braking system and the Brake light comes on. The lane departure and cruise control is shut off while the vehicle is in motion. There is a sudden and unexpected drop in speed when the cruise control is shut off by the vehicle. The vehicle remains operable without the systems activated the warnings go away after restarting.
Jark sometimes when shifting it self
I rear ended a vehicle and my brakes did not respond nor the emergency system activate I gave a dash cam on the incident and no one has inspected the car for that failure
Dear Honda Customer Support Team, I want to address an urgent safety concern with my 2023 Honda Civic, which has been affected by the recent recall (NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-744, MFR Campaign ID: SJS) issued on October 3, 2024, for 2022-2025 This recall addresses a defect in the steering gearbox worm wheel, which can swell during use, resulting in a reduced grease film thickness between the worm wheel and worm gear. Additionally, the worm gear spring preload was set too high, increasing friction and causing the steering to become resistant. This defect can create dangerous driving conditions, significantly raising the risk of a crash or injury. On multiple occasions, I have experienced instances where the steering has become unresponsive, effectively “locking up” while driving. These occurrences have been extremely distressing, impacting my confidence in the vehicle's safety and contributing to substantial mental distress. Additionally, I have noticed recurring issues with the Electronic Power Steering (EPS) system, such as electrical malfunctions that cause the car to stall unexpectedly, activate the automatic stop feature, and produce erratic sensor behavior. I have reported these concerns to my dedicated dealership, but unfortunately, the issues remain unresolved. On November 2, 2024, I brought my vehicle to White Plains Honda at 61 Bank Street, White Plains, New York 10606, after scheduling my appointment two weeks in advance. However, I was informed that the replacement part required to resolve the steering gearbox defect is on backorder with no confirmed availability date. Considering the safety risks associated with driving my vehicle in its current state, I am deeply concerned about the indefinite delay in repairs. Given the critical nature of these safety concerns, I am formally requesting an immediate replacement vehicle to ensure my safety and that of my passengers.
The steering wheel start shaking, delayed, hard to steer because it was stiff. I had gotten into a collision on the freeway due to not being able to control the steering wheel. There no other vehicle involved in the accident. On October 5th 2024, the recall was issued but I didn’t receive any warnings till I went online to do research. Honda did not reach out in an orderly fashion. The police and my insurance company were both there to aid the situation. There was no warning lamps at all. My vehicle is currently at LIA Honda located in Albany, NY. It has been 2 weeks since I called to file case with Honda’s Headquarters and still have not been assisted.
Power steering rack replacements still defective causing safety concerns while driving.. Have to fight electronic steering, at high speeds steering wheel becomes more difficult to control.
I was driving at highway speeds, randomly all brake system warning lights come on. All ADAS systems are inop, EPB is inop, my brake pedal would get soft intermittently while braking. Multiple DTC’s were stored every visit. I was almost in multiple accidents because of this issue. It took over 6 visit to local Hondas dealer to get this issue fixed. All they would say “oh the codes don’t mean there is a problem” Honda is not warranting their cars. I contacted corporate and they did not care.
I was getting on the interstate when all of a sudden the collision mitigation assist and lane keeping assist pop up on my dashboard. It was a very scary moment.
This was a single car incident (no other cars involved). The car was going on the 270 degree curved onramp to enter the highway. Lane Keep assist (LKAS) came on at or near the end of the onramp which caused the vehicle to head from the inside part of the lane/curve towards the left side of the onramp lane/curve and toward the left side retaining wall. Driver attempted to course correct but steering was not responsive in time and the car hit the left side wall completely disabling steering. The car came off the left wall and went across the onramp lane and struck the right side retaining wall before coming to a stop. Airbags did not deploy. Seatbelt may not have locked/tightened at impact with the wall either. LKAS initiated the move into the wall, the steering was stuck/non-responsive or perhaps slow to take driver input. Multiple previous reports to the dealer about steering being problematic were each unable to confirm a problem and this vehicle was not considered part of the existing potentially related recall. The LKAS is believed to have engaged with flashing warning just before crash. After the crash, the driver seatbelt "red X" shows on display, a LKAS error shows on display, and a supplemental restraint system error shows on the display.
There is a recall on other similar vehicles but my VIN isn’t showing as one with a recall. However, I am also experiencing “sticking” while steering. Brought the car to the dealership and received conflicting information. We were told that the tech was able to replicate the issue we stated when he test drove the car. Dealer ordered the part, which appears to be just a bolt that they stated was back ordered for 3 weeks. This was the second time we brought the car. The first time, they supposedly just took a photo of the part number to see if it was part of the recall or not and never inspected the vehicle thoroughly. We are concerned that the dealership is not doing their due diligence to ensure our safety. AJ, the service rep from Honda West said he can’t really confirm whether it’s safe to drive the car or not when I asked him what we should do until the part arrives. Then when I asked about a possible rental car because I feel unsafe driving the vehicle, he said that Honda doesn’t consider this a safety issue so they can’t provide us with a loaner or rental car, but continued to ask us if we wanted to leave the car (for 3 weeks). We are concerned that not all vehicle part numbers related to the EOS issue have been identified to be included in the recall. Hoping for some assistance.
When driving the car after about 30-35 MPH, the steering wheel becomes a tug of war. Steering will continuously get stuck in a certain direction, causing operator to continuously over correct steering. This is becoming more and more of a problem, which is now a danger in driving. The dealership has confirmed the issue after inspecting the system and driving the car. There has not been any warning lights what so ever when this failure started. Honda should be switching drivers out of there cars for newer year. Car has only 9800 miles.
My 2023 civic steering wheel seems to stick when I'm driving. If the wheel is kept straight for a second it "sticks" and requires a good bit of force to become "unstuck". When driving at highway speeds getting it unstuck usually causes it to jerk and in turn overcorrect constantly. There are no warning lights and I currently have an appointment to take it to the dealer for inspection.
The contact owns a 2023 Honda Civic. The contact stated that shortly after the vehicle was purchased brand new, the vehicle would start independently and the doors would unlock independently. Additionally, the contact stated while at a complete stop at the traffic light, the auto Stop-Start feature was engaged. The contact stated that the vehicle accelerated independently, causing another vehicle to crash into the rear driver's side door of the vehicle. There was no warning light illuminated. On the driver's side, the roof-rail air bags deployed. The contact stated that he was able to exit the vehicle. The contact was able to drive the vehicle. A police report was filed. The contact stated that the collision might have increased the intensity of the injuries he had sustained from a previous accident. The contact did not seek medical assistance. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that they could not determine whether the failures occurred due to the vehicle's computer system being hacked. The vehicle was not diagnosed and repaired. Additionally, the contact stated that the steering wheel was pulling to the left and the right while driving. The contact stated that while driving 20-25 MPH, the vehicle made an abnormal grinding sound. The contact stated that while pulling into the nearest parking lot, the vehicle made an abnormally loud popping sound. The contact stated that he engaged the electric parking brake and parked the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed that the ball joint was fractured and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 200.
About 30 minutes into a drive the steering wheel or electronic steering will begin to malfunction. When driving at high speeds, you are unable to make small minor corrections to stay center in your lane due to the steering wheel feeling like it’s sticking in one direction. It takes a considerable amount of force in order to make the correction resulting in an over correction. When traveling at high speed this can put the driver and passangers at risk because an over correction can cause the car to lose traction with the road. I’ve taken the car into Honda and it is currently being inspected. They told me yesterday that they were ‘having trouble replicating the problem’ which doesn’t mean the problem isn’t there. As far as I know and seen there have no being any light indicators on.
Under multiple conditions, both intercity highways and two-lane country highways the cars adaptive cruise control with randomly slowdown/brakes extremely hard. In one specific instance I was driving home in the middle of the night with a vehicle behind me and with no other oncoming traffic or cars in passing lanes and the adaptive cruise "brake checked" the car behind me, I was able to react and cancel the adaptive cruise and avoid an accident. When adaptive cruise is set it will also aggressively approach the car in front, instead of gradually slowing down it will continue at the set speed until the car realizes it's to close and will slam on the brakes to slow down. When adaptive cruise is turned off the car will slam on the brakes if you attempt to accelerate to pass someone and coast back to set speed. in other words, the car will slam on the brakes to resume the set cruise speed. Fortunately, no cars have been behind me when this has happened. Nowhere does it say that this will happen when using normal cruise control? Speeds and conditions varied from city traffic going 20 - 40 mph, the highway going 55-65 and the interstate going 70-80 mph. some instances were at night others were during the day.
The brakes slam on there own causing all safety features to go out and the car to go out of control. This is the 3rd time this has happened in 3 months. The dealership is telling me they won’t look at it for 3 months I could be killed in that time my car is dangerous
My vehicle was giving me the “you’re going to collide with something warning which is a loud alarm. I wasn’t even close to anything. I called and they said they had people stopping by all day with the same complaint. Then he told me that it can even do it when there is a hard rain.
•Problems occurring with steering. Even when assisted living keeping is off, the steering will try to throw me out of the lane where i have to constantly have a good grip to try stopping it from swerving the vehicle I tend to notice it more on highways especially in areas where the black line is on the road from lanes shifting over due to construction. •I believe it can be a huge safety risk that can cause an accident if someone isn’t fully attentive to the problem and not holding the steering wheel hard enough. •no warning lights or messages regarding parts affected by the problem. • The problem has not been reported , inspected, nor confirmed by the dealer and/or other parties. •I noticed the problem start around or before 1000 miles (my first month having the car)
Brake mitigation system will automatically slam on brakes and show brake light with no objects in the way
The contact owns a 2023 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 MPH, the cruise control suddenly would not deactivate causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a ditch. The contact indicated that prior to the crash the cruise control did not deactivate when pressing the brake pedal and did not shut off while manually pressing the cruise control deactivation switch. Also, during the crash no airbags deployed and no injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failures was not determined. The local dealer was notified of the failures. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 6,300.
Steering wheel suddenly became stiff, gives resistance to regain control of wheel.. this happens when driving with computer aids on & off.. When driving straight with very minimal movement of the wheel the steering becomes locked in that position and will force car to drift out of lane. This problem occurred in highway and city travel.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
