The bike had been parked after a ride for approximately two days when the leak was noticed on the garage floor. This is a known manufacturing defect affecting the Honda Rebel 1100 and the Honda Africa Twin, which shares the same engine. The failure results from inadequate or improperly applied ThreeBond sealant at the triangular grommet/stator cover interface during factory assembly. Oil leaking in this area can contact hot engine components and poses a potential fire and safety hazard. The motorcycle has only 5,700 miles and was purchased new in August 2024. It has been garage kept, ridden in fair weather only, and maintained per Honda's recommended schedule. This is not a wear or maintenance issue — it is a factory assembly deficiency.
