2010 Honda Fit Problems

I called the Honda dealership in Concord California on 12/2/2024 for the 20V-770 recall as well as the airbag shrapnel issue. They checked with the service manager and refused to inspect the drive train unless there “Was a problem with the car”. They refused to repair the air bags unless “something happens, hopefully nothing happens then we can look at it.” They offered to have the airbags repaired at our expense. What is the point of having a recall if the dealers refuse to even look at the car until it crashes or hits you with shrapnel?

WE KEEP GETTING NOTIFICATIONS THAT WE NEED TO REPLACE OUR AIR BAGS. BOTH THE LEFT AND RIGHT BAGS HAVE BEEN REPLACED BY GUSTMAN IN APPLETON, WI. THEY SAID THAT THEY NOTIFIED YOU AND I PERSONALLY HAVE SENT PAPERWORK. I REFUSE TO SEND MORE AND WOULD LIKE TO BE TAKEN OFF THE LIST. I WILL NOW BE DESTROYING THIS MAILING AND WILL NOT OPEN ANY MORE. I WILL SEND THEM BACK TO YOU

LOSS OF POWER STEERING POWER ELECTRICAL SURGES WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY AND SECONDARY ROADS. WHILE STEERING ON THE ROAD (IN MOTION), OUR 2010 HONDA FIT SUDDENLY JERKS IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION FROM THE TURN, LEADING TO A NUMBER OF NEAR-MISS ACCIDENTS. THE PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTICED IN FALL OF 2018. DEALER WAS ABLE TO REPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND SAYS THE ELECTRONIC STEERING RACK AND BOX ARE "BAD" AND NEED TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $2400. THE CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN ANY SORT OF ACCIDENT OR CATASTROPHIC INCIDENT, AND THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF DAMAGE TO COMPONENTS (LIKE TIE ROD ENDS) -- IT'S JUST THE STEERING THAT IS SUDDENLY UNRELIABLE.

Just purchased the car and it suffers from "Memory Steer". After a turn, the steering does not return to neutral, but the steering wheel requires input to straighten out. Alignment, Strut Bearings and Ball Joints checked OK, suggesting the binding is in the steering column, Steering Rack or perhaps the Electric Power Steering. The problem occurs at all speeds.

While driving, the steering wheel intermittently locks up or loses power making control of the vehicle extremely difficult while driving straight and near impossible when it happens while turning.

On 1/29/22 in Dayton OH, I was stopped and turning left out onto the road. I accelerated lightly and the left axel broke in the middle of the turn. The car was stopped in the middle of two lanes. I was able to get help and push the car back in the business driveway by keeping it in neutral. The car would make repetitive clicking sounds if I left it in park. I had it towed. Repair shop fixed issue. It was the left front axel shaft that broke. My car has about 130,000 miles on it and is a 2010 Honda Fit. It is available for inspection. I am so thankful that I wasn't on a high speed road as a car could have collided into me when I was turning left because the axle broke before I could get fully into one lane. If I had been moving at higher speeds, I definitely would have gotten in an accident. There were no warning indicators before the incident. I regularly serviced the vehicle.

Purchased car on March 4, 2025. Noticed TMPS dashboard light was on, returned 3/5/2025, Ford replaced tire senor, light was still on, they replaced 4 tire senors. But did not replace all untill 4/19/2024, that is when I noticed a bubble and crack on tire and a BROKEN SWAY BAR LINK. ALSO THEY DID NOT INSPECT MY CAR WITHIN 7 DAYS, THEY INSPECTED IT ON 3/14/2025. NO REJECTION STICKER PUT ON, SO I was DRIVING THE CAR HONDA WITHOUT ANY STICKER UNTIL THEY REPLACED ANOTHER SENOR. TOLD ME THE TMPS light would go off after I drove the car around. 24 Ford of South Easton of Easton, MA sold me a 2010 Honda Fit that has a DriveShaft recall for corrosion. Also, faulty tire senors, replaced but Dashboard TMPS light is still on, lied about giving me a new tire, tire has bubbles on it and they put tire on rim facing in toward car wheel hub so it won't be visible, I noticed this and a broken Sway Bar Link. Ford let me drive an unsafe car off the lot. They didn't Offer to fix it, I went to AXP Auto , paid $183.00 to fix the Sway Bar Link, then to a tire Shop to get a new tire . I went to Honda Dealership and they replaced the DRIVESHAFT AND GAVE ME A $2000.00 ESTIMATE OF SAFETY REPAIRS THAT NEED TO BE FIXED. Six weeks after I brought car, Transmission Engine light is constantly on...many other thing wrong. Axle Shaft R&R, front pads and rotor, 4 tires, Dirty Air Filter, old oil filter black oil. Now Transmission Pressure Senor needs replacement. List is long. AXP Auto also gave me a $2,000.00 quote on repairs, transmission fluid pressure switch gasket, etc. steering TIE RODS, REPLACE BRAKES. THIS HONDA FIT IS A DEATHTRAP AND I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT. 24 FORD SHOULD HAVE REPLACED DRIVESHAFT BEFORE I PURCHASED CAR. THEY SWINDLED ME on THE SALES CONTACT AS I DIDN'T KNOW THEY CHARGED ME $6200.00 IN WARRANTY, I WAS ABLE TO CANCEL ONE WARRANTY TOTAL OF $2000.00, AS T DIDN'T COVER BRAKES AND OTHER REPAIRS, SUCH AS POWERTRAIN. OFFERED NO GAP TO ME. 24 FORD is BAD.

License Motor Dealer , On [XXX], the TMPS dashboard light was on...Ford replaced them, but as presently ([XXX]) light is still on, they told me TMPS would go off after I drove car around. April 19, 2025, Last TMPS sensor was put on a 4th tire, I was in the car repair area and noticed a broken Sway Bar Link and a Bubble & Cracks on tire, Ford noticed it but did not offer to fix it and let me drive off dealership lot with broken Sway Bar and bad tire. It was negligent, and UNSAFE TO DRIVE. 30 day Lemon Law Ended on [XXX]. Also, there was a RECALL FOR A DRIVESHAFT, WHICH I FOUND OUT VIA THE INTERNET. On May 13, 2025 I went to a Honda Dealership and they replaced the DRIVESHAFT. I went to AXP Repair Shop to get SWAY BAR LINK fixed, and a new tire, which cost me $250.00. 24 Ford did not inspect my car until March 14, 2025 after they replaced the last Tire Sensor. Since the TMPS light was on they didn't even put a REJECT INSPECTION on my car window and let me drive it without any Sticker. They put my life and others at risk of a fatal accident, negligent in letting me drive off their FORD DEALERSHIP LOT WITH A BROKEN SWAY BAR LINK AND BUBBLE/CRACKS ON TIRE. Everything is very RUSTY under the car carriage. I do not feel safe driving car. I call it a deathtrap. Also per Carfax it was parked someplace for a year 01/01/2024 - 01/01/2025. 24 FORD OUT IT UP FOR SALE 01/2025. THEY DIDN'T DO ANY ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, DIRTY AIR FILTERS. THE BACK WINDOW ON 2010 FIT SPORT HATCHBACK DID NOT HAVE ANY PREVIOUS DAMAGE. THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY OVERNIGHT. WHEN I GOT IN AND SHUT THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, THE BACK WINDOW SHATTERED BEFORE I HAD EVEN STARTED THE IGNITION.. THE CAR HAD NO PREVIOUS DAMAGE OR CRACKS/CHIPS OF ANY KIND. THE ENITRE BACK WINDOW HAD TO BE REPLACED.

HVAC BLOWER MOTOR WORKS ONLY ON HIGH SPEED (4). SPEEDS 1-3 DON'T WORK ON THE FAN FOR AC, HEAT, OR ANY OF THE VARIOUS HVAC SETTINGS. *TR

While driving on the highway, my 2010 Honda Fit Sport automatic with 134,000 miles going around 60 mph lost power and started making sputtering noise. Fortunately, there was still some power left, and I was able to navigate to the shoulder of the highway. I turned off the car and turned It back on again and the Check Engine Light came on. I plugged in my BlueDriver diagnostic tool and it says Cylinder 2 Misfire. When I placed it in Drive, the car was making sputtering noise from the Engine Bay Area and would not accelerate, leaving me stranded on the side of the highway. I was lucky enough to maneuver the limping car in the middle of rush hours to the side of the highway. It's a miracle I didn't get into an accident, as the car lost power and was not accelerating properly. The mechanic did a diagnostic and said that Cylinder 2 spark plug blew, commonly due to the plugs coming loose, damaging the spark plug and ignition coil on cylinder 2. I searched the internet and found that other 2nd generation Honda Fit ('09-'13) owners also had spark plugs that came from the factory/ tightened to factory specification to only come loose again. I could have died or have gotten into a serious accident. Because of this horror story and being stuck on the highway for 4 hours, I will unfortunately never buy a Honda again, a brand that was supposed to be reliable.

A SPARK PLUG CAME OUT OF CYLINDER HEAD WHILE DRIVING. THIS DAMAGED THE CYLINDER HEAD AND IGNITION SYSTEM. FUEL ECONOMY SUFFERED. IT ALLOWED EXHAUSET FUMES TO BE DRAWN INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT CAUSING NAUSEA AND DIZZINESS.

I PULLED SLOWLY INTO A COMMERCIAL PARKING SPACE, THE CAR ACCELERATED AFTER I LIFTED MY FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL. THE CAR JUMPED THE CURB AND HIT A CONCRETE COLUMN. I SLAMMED THE BRAKES AND IT STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF A SIDEWALK JUST IN FRONT OF A STOREFRONT. UNINTENDED ACCELERATION OCCURRED ON TWO OTHER OCCASIONS WITH NO DAMAGE..

MY FIRST THOUGHT WAS THAT ONE OF THE TIRES HAD BLOWN OUT, SO I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE GAS AND DID NOT TOUCH THE BRAKES, THINKING JUST THAT I SHOULD TRY TO KEEP THE CAR AWAY FROM OTHER VEHICLES AND AS GENTLY AS I COULD BRING IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AWAY FROM TRAFFIC. IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE FIRST SWERVE, THE CAR DID NOT REACT IN THE SLIGHTEST TO MY STEERING ATTEMPTS TO KEEP IT STRAIGHT OR AWAY FROM TRAFFIC, AND IT SWERVED LEFT AND RIGHT A COUPLE MORE TIMES BEFORE HITTING THE CONCRETE MEDIAN ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE FRONT OF THE CAR CRUNCHED INTO THE MEDIAN, AND THE WHOLE CAR FLIPPED ON ITS PASSENGER SIDE AND SCRAPED AGAINST THE MEDIAN BEFORE FINALLY COMING TO A HALT UPSIDE DOWN. ONCE THE CAR STOPPED I SAW THAT MIRACULOUSLY NOTHING INSIDE OF THE CAR WAS IMPEDING MY EXIT, AND THE GLASS ON BOTH THE WINDOWS HAD COMPLETELY SHATTERED, SO I UNDID MY SEATBELT AND CRAWLED OUT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW AND IMMEDIATELY STOOD UP. THANKFULLY NO OTHER CARS OR PASSENGERS WERE INVOLVED, 911 WAS CALLED, AND THE POLICEMAN WHO CAME SAID THE INCIDENT SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS DUE TO TIRE DAMAGE FROM MY DESCRIPTION BUT THEN EXAMINED THE WHEELS OF THE CAR AND REPORTED THAT HE DIDN?T SEE ANYTHING AWRY WITH THEM, LEAVING THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT A MYSTERY. AT APPROXIMATELY 15332 MILES ON JUNE 13 2013 THE TPMS LIGHT CAME ON, ADVISING THAT A TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR HAD FAILED. IT WAS REPLACED, BUT WAS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY BY JIM WHITE HONDA IN MAUMEE OHIO.. LESS THAN 4 WEEKS LATER AT APPROXIMATELY 16846 MILES ON JULY 13 2013 THE TPMS LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. IT WAS REPLACED AND WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY BY HOLMAN HONDA OF FORT LAUDERDALE FLORIDA. THESE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORS ARE REQUIRED BY LAW. HAVING TWO DIFFERENT TIRES FAIL WITHIN WEEKS OF EACH OTHER AT SUCH LOW MILEAGE ON A CAR THAT IS RARELY AND CAREFULLY DRIVEN IS A CLEAR INDICATION OF SOME SORT OF DEFECT. CALLS TO HONDA CUSTOMER SERVICE WERE POINTLESS AND THE FIRST FAILURE COST $215.93. I WAS NEVER GIVEN THE PARTS OR TOLD ANYTHING EXCEPT THAT THE PARTS "FAILED". AS PART OF THE TREAD ACT, BECAUSE THEY ARE SAFETY EQUIPMENT I BELIEVE THAT DEFECTIVE TIRE PRESSURE MONITORS SHOULD BE COVERED BY WARRANTY REGARDLESS OF THE DATE OF PURCHASE, AND I WANT TO BE REIMBURSED AND A RECALL ISSUED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THE LOW PRESSURE WAS DUE TO CLIMATIC CHANGES. THE TIRES WERE THEN FILLED WITH AIR TO THE PROPER TIRE PRESSURE. On May 13, 2025 I went to a Honda Dealership and they replaced the DRIVESHAFT. I went to AXP Repair Shop to get SWAY BAR LINK fixed, and a new tire, which cost me $250.00. 24 Ford did not inspect my car until March 14, 2025 after they replaced the last Tire Sensor. Since the TMPS light was on they didn't even put a REJECT INSPECTION on my car window and let me drive it without any Sticker. They put my life and others at risk of a fatal accident, negligent in letting me drive off their FORD DEALERSHIP LOT WITH A BROKEN SWAY BAR LINK AND BUBBLE/CRACKS ON TIRE. Everything is very RUSTY under the car carriage. I do not feel safe driving car. I call it a deathtrap. Also per Carfax it was parked someplace for a year 01/01/2024 - 01/01/2025. 24 FORD OUT IT UP FOR SALE 01/2025. THEY DIDN'T DO ANY ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, DIRTY AIR FILTERS. AXP and Honda told me I need $2,000.00 - $4,000.00 worth of repairs to make car safe. FORD BROUGHT IT AT AN AUCTION. I was really scammed by the DECEPTIVE PRACTICES and LIES. Purchased car on March 4, 2025. Noticed TMPS dashboard light was on, returned 3/5/2025, Ford replaced tire senor, light was still on, they replaced 4 tire senors. But did not replace all untill 4/19/2024, that is when I noticed a bubble and crack on tire and a BROKEN SWAY BAR LINK. ALSO THEY DID NOT INSPECT MY CAR WITHIN 7 DAYS, THEY INSPECTED IT ON 3/14/2025. NO REJECTION STICKER PUT ON, SO I was DRIVING THE CAR HONDA WITHOUT ANY STICKER UNTIL THEY REPLACED ANOTHER SENOR. TOLD ME THE TMPS light would go off after I drove the car around. 24 Ford of South Easton of Easton, MA sold me a 2010 Honda Fit that has a DriveShaft recall for corrosion. Also, faulty tire senors, replaced but Dashboard TMPS light is still on, lied about giving me a new tire, tire has bubbles on it and they put tire on rim facing in toward car wheel hub so it won't be visible, I noticed this and a broken Sway Bar Link. Ford let me drive an unsafe car off the lot. They didn't Offer to fix it, I went to AXP Auto , paid $183.00 to fix the Sway Bar Link, then to a tire Shop to get a new tire . I went to Honda Dealership and they replaced the DRIVESHAFT AND GAVE ME A $2000.00 ESTIMATE OF SAFETY REPAIRS THAT NEED TO BE FIXED. Six weeks after I brought car, Transmission Engine light is constantly on...many other thing wrong. Axle Shaft R&R, front pads and rotor, 4 tires, Dirty Air Filter, old oil filter black oil. Now Transmission Pressure Senor needs replacement. List is long. AXP Auto also gave me a $2,000.00 quote on repairs, transmission fluid pressure switch gasket, etc. steering TIE RODS, REPLACE BRAKES. THIS HONDA FIT IS A DEATHTRAP AND I AM SCARED TO DRIVE IT. 24 FORD SHOULD HAVE REPLACED DRIVESHAFT BEFORE I PURCHASED CAR. THEY SWINDLED ME on THE SALES CONTACT AS I DIDN'T KNOW THEY CHARGED ME $6200.00 IN WARRANTY, I WAS ABLE TO CANCEL ONE WARRANTY TOTAL OF $2000.00, AS T DIDN'T COVER BRAKES AND OTHER REPAIRS, SUCH AS POWERTRAIN. OFFERED NO GAP TO ME. 24 FORD is BAD.

FOR NO APPARENT REASON THE ENGINE STALLS. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY (65 MPG) OR DRIVING ON SURFACE STREETS (40 MPH) AND THE ENGINE STALLS. TWO MECHANICS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM DUE TO NO ENGINE CODES FOUND. THIS IS EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND THE WORD NEEDS TO GET OUT.

WITH HEADLIGHTS ON AND HEATER BLOWER RUNNING THE HEADLIGHTS DIM SIGNIFICANTLY AND THE BLOWER MOTOR REDUCES ITS VELOCITY, AS IF AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE IS ABOUT TO OCCUR. DEALER SAID NOTHING IS WRONG.
