1994 Honda GL1500 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 4 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 1994 Honda GL1500. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. I HAVE HAD MY LAST TWO REAR TIRES FAIL THE SAME WAY AND BOTH WERE REPLACED BY ME WITH ONLY ABOUT 60% OF THE TIRE USED. THEY BOTH DEVELOPED A SMALL SEPERATION BETWEEN THE TREAD AT AROUND 5000 MILES AND GREW AS TIME WENT ON TO ABOUT 1 TO 1 1/2 INCHES IN LENGTH. I DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT THE FIRST TIME SO I THREW OUT THE TIRE, BUT WHEN IT HAPPENED A SECOND TIME I KEPT THE TIRE AND CONTACTED DUNLOP. I STILL HAVE THE TIRE. THEIR RESPONSE WITHOUT LOOKING AT THE TIRE WAS THAT IT APPEARS TO BE ROAD HAZARD RELATED. I DON'T BELIEVE IT BECAUSE I HAVE SEEN OTHER FRIENDS THAT RIDE THE SAME TYPE MOTORCYCLE EXPERIENCE THE SAME SPLIT. I TALKED WITH DUNLOP REP. COLLEEN LARKIN @ 800-847-3382. FEEL FREE TO CONTACT HER OR I FOR MORE INFORMATION. SHE HAS AGREED TO REPLACE THE TIRE AT NO COST TO ME, AFTER SOME WHINING FROM A 20 YEAR CUSTOMER. BUT I STILL FEEL THERE IS A MANUFACTURING PROBLEM WITH THIS TIRE. HAVE YOU RECEIVED OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS?*AK (DOT NUMBER: DA42 TIRESIZE: 160/80B16)

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
