Wife was going to the store engine lost power and died prior to that steering got loose like trying to turn itself, towed to dealer inspected dealer cleaned throttle returned vehicle after cost of 807.00 and drove van to church tailgate would not open without vehicle running, got home turned off windshield washers operated brittle with key off, remote key system problem displayed also hill hold, brake failure and steering message on dash prior, dealer picked up van inspected again found defective seal sealer on passenger side leak in water on wiring harness pins and soaking power distribution box said that was causing issues and stalling driving and safety system issues, van is at dealer, also tailgate after you open with ding when open and will close by itself, safety issues will close while you or small child in at back closes from behind you

I am reporting American Honda’s ongoing failure to safely remedy critical safety defects and recalls on my 2018 Honda Odyssey (purchased new), resulting in severe vehicle degradation and a life-threatening traffic hazard. The vehicle has been to an authorized dealer over 21 times.SAFETY RECALL NEGLIGENCE & POWERTAIN DAMAGE: At 95k miles, the vehicle displayed active check engine codes P0087 (Low Fuel Pressure), P0420, and P0430. The dealer replaced injectors, but severe fuel issues persisted. The dealer utilized stall tactics, claiming they "could not duplicate" ongoing stalling/hesitation symptoms. When the official fuel pump recall was issued, the bulletin mandated priority service for vehicles actively displaying symptoms. My vehicle met these parameters. However, when I attempted to get the recall performed at 111k and 120k miles, the dealer denied service due to part shortages, instructing me to drive the vehicle until it "completely broke down." Because Honda failed to supply recall parts to a symptomatic vehicle, I was forced to drive it a defective car for an additional 46,000 miles. A replacement pump was installed at 166k miles, but the prolonged forced operation directly caused the high pressure pump to fail and raw fuel to melt both catalytic converters. The dealer issued a $6,000 repair estimate for damage engineered entirely by Honda's recall delays.LIFE-THREATENING TCM FAILURE: One day after a related service visit, the Transmission Control Module suffered a catastrophic electrical failure. The engine completely shut off without warning while I was actively facing four lanes of oncoming traffic, creating an immediate, severe collision risk.BROKEN SLIDING DOORS: The power sliding doors failed under 12 months of ownership. Despite 7+ repair attempts, they remain broken, posing a severe structural/occupant safety hazard. Requests for trade-in intervention since 60k miles were systematically ignored.

Back in the fall/winner of 2024 (could have been 2025) my Honda Odyssey had a recall for a low pressure fuel pump. However, Honda and many other dealers were dealing with hundreds of thousands of recalls, and we’re only recalling the vehicles with actual symptoms. My vehicle was hesitating and experiencing sudden loss of power during acceleration therefore Honda agreed to repair my vehicle. Everything seemed to work fine after that with no issues, but approximately three months later, I was having issues with my vehicle and brought it into my Mechanic, to find out that my high-pressure fuel pump was not working properly. Upon further investigation, I found out that a bad low-pressure fuel pump starves the high-pressure fuel pump (HPFP) of required volume. This causes the HPFP to work far beyond its design limits to build pressure, leading to cavitation (vapor bubbles damaging internal components), overheating, and premature mechanical wear from metal-on-metal friction. When I dug a little deeper, I found out that many Honda owners were dealing with failing high-pressure fuel pumps after having their low pressure fuel pump recall repairs completed. Many in which were in a similar timeframe to mine. Honda offered me no good merit assistance and stated that unfortunately, I would be liable for the entire cost of the repair. It is more than obvious that the failing of my low pressure fuel pump impacted the performance and workload of my high-pressure fuel pump, causing it to fail, which I believe Honda should be liable for replacing. Please look further into this matter to help others like me that had their low pressure fuel pump recall performed, and shortly after needed to replace their high-pressure fuel pump at their own costly expense.

An independent mechanic was contacted. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with fuel pump failure. Multiple times of driving the vehicle as I am trying to press the gas pedal while driving it acts like it is not working and suddenly it stutters and stalls. The car will shut off and put you into to neutral while you try and pull over to the side of the road without being hit. It happens randomly and without rhyme or reason. After it shuts off codes are thrown such as brake failure, emissions failure, hill assist failure, steering failure, and lane assist failure. The car will be really hard to restart and if eventually will and then everything will disappear and go back to normal. Codes leave and car drives fine until it messes up again. First time it happened was months ago from this report, and then it happened monthly, weekly and now almost daily but only when you try and drive. Very unsafe and there’s no reason cars should stall at high speeds going down interstates!

Our 2018 Honda Odyssey repeatedly and without warning completely loses acceleration power, creating extremely dangerous driving conditions. This occurs in two distinct situations:(1)while driving at highway speeds when attempting to change lanes or accelerate, and(2)when stopped at a stop sign or intersection and pressing the gas to merge into or turn into traffic. In both situations, pressing the accelerator results in little to no response — the vehicle will roll but fails to accelerate as needed. These failures have placed our family in multiple life-threatening situations. On Interstate 285 in Atlanta, Georgia — one of the busiest and highest-speed highways in the country — our vehicle has failed to accelerate during lane changes on multiple occasions, nearly causing serious accidents. Most recently, within the past week, my husband was driving on I-285 when he pressed the accelerator and the vehicle had absolutely zero acceleration response. He narrowly avoided a collision. We have also experienced complete loss of acceleration when turning from a stop sign into traffic and when merging — situations where immediate acceleration is critical to safety. The vehicle lags for several seconds before any power is delivered to the wheels, leaving us dangerously exposed in oncoming traffic. All manufacturer recalls have been completed, including the fuel pump recall. The problem persists and has not been resolved by any dealer service or recall repair performed to date. We are aware that this is a known, widespread defect affecting 2018 Honda Odysseys equipped with the ZF 9-speed automatic transmission. Hundreds of other owners have reported identical symptoms to NHTSA and to Honda directly. Honda has acknowledged the transmission's behavior to some owners but has stated it is "how the car is supposed to drive" — a response that is wholly unacceptable given the documented near-accidents this defect is causing.We are requesting that NHTSA open or expand its investigation

My Odyssey began to shudder and misfire. Luckily, I was in a parking lot when it happened. It stopped running. Several attempts to restart were unsuccessful. Once when it did start, it was missing and would barely move. After about 15 minutes, I was able to get it started and get home (a little over 2 miles). I installed my code checker to find the problem. I initially had 22 codes - including P0301-P0306, P0300 and P0087. I waited a while and re-ran the test. The P0087 continued to show. I did not attempt to drive it anymore until the next day, when I took it to Canady & Branch (Auto Repair). They checked for codes and also had the P0087 code. They called and informed me of the issue and indicated that it involves the fuel pump. They also indicated that there were recalls for the Honda Odyssey for the fuel system:fuel pump. I contacted Priority Honda to determine if this would be covered under a recall. I was told that the recall did not involve my Odyssey. I needed my vehicle, so I had Canady & Branch make the necessary repair ($874.42 - the diagnostic was an additional $77). I spoke to Honda USA today and was informed that they do not cover 3rd party work and reiterated that my vehicle was not on the recall list. I was told that IT HAD BEEN on the list but was removed in March of 2024.

I own a 2018 Honda Odyssey Elite. While driving to ER for my daughter engine started making weird knocking sounds, when I stopped at a red light to turn left off the interstate Odyssey just died and began to smoke. My daughter and I were advised to get out of the vehicle for safety reasons, due to smoke. There was no warning lights or any other indication that the Odyssey had a problem. 911 was contacted fire and police responded, it was determined that engine reached max temperature. Odyssey was towed to Honda dealer for diagnostics, it was determined that connecting rod bearing was bad and long block needed to be replaced, starter also imploded and needed to be replaced. I contacted manufacturer to ask for a "Goodwill Repair" due to NHTSA Campaign Number 23V751000. Per manufacturer Honda would not offer any assistance for the engine repair even though recall matches exact part affected in the recall. All regular maintenance oil changes, 100,000 mile service, new tires, have been performed on the Odyssey. I can provide receipts and records. The failure mileage was 167,384.

My 2018 Odyssey has a problem of High Pressure Fuel Pump malfunction. It is come to know that and it can cause stalling the vehicle while running and can cause accident. The same fuel system is shared by 2018 Honda Pilot which had a recall. But Manufacturer did not issue a recall notice for Odyssey's yet.

While on a road trip our vehicle began to run louder, same shifting, same gas mileage but louder especially under acceleration. There was no warning and luckily we made it home only to find out it was the High Pressure Fuel Pump in the engine bay that was failing. We had the previous Fuel Pump Recall completed but now at ~82,000 miles the HPFP goes out, these usually last much longer. Took to an independent shop who diagnosed and fixed problem resolved but said we could have easily been stranded or worse the hose with fuel that was violently pulsating in the engine bay could have come unattached and fuel could leak on the hot engine.

Tuesday, September 30 at 8:07 PM I was merging onto the interstate after work and my car would not accelerate properly to allow me to merge with the traffic. This happens way more than it should. Since I got this vehicle it has been doing this and scaring my entire family every time. It happens in car line. It happens when i am already driving with traffic on the interstate and when i try to pass a slow car my car will sometimes not accelerate due to the problematic recall issue that these 2018 9 speed hondas are known for. It puts me in a very scary situation and I dont know what else to do about it.

The throttle can loose power at stop and then suddenly engine picks up the throttle which not normal and this is not maintenance issue as service station and Honda does not confirm the behavior a defect or a problem. This is very concerning.

I bought my van used in March of 2025. within 6 weeks I noticed when accelerating my van hesitated about 3 seconds before going when I went to take-off. This has caused great concern . Last week it caused me a accident because of the delay in acceleration. Luckily I was not hurt but did cause a accident. My vehicle is having symptoms described in the recall (Safety Recall: 2018–23 Odyssey Fuel Pump Motor - RCRIT-23V858-259). Although my VIN number does not show eligible for this Recall but I am having symptoms mentioned on this recall: 1. Difficulty starting Car and its intermittent. 2. Car Stalled at the Red light, traffic stops few time putting at the risk of being rear ended. 3. Engine hesitate when driving and feel jerky moves or unable to pick speed as it should normally. 4. Check Engine light shows up with all other functions disabled. 5. Local Honda Dealer code scanner tool to check error code and they reported DTC P0087. When I searched this symptoms I came across this Recall with same symptoms but My Vehicle does not qualify based on VIN # search. I need to issue resolved as it puts my family at the risk of being in an Accident while driving on roads for day to day activity.

1/16/25 Van brought to Honda of Kenosha to complete fuel pump recall. Advised work was complete. 3/30/25 While driving, my van completely turned off. Creating an unsafe situation as I wasn’t parked but with engine running & van in drive. Van was towed to repair shop 3/3/25. When they opened on 3/31/25, I contacted them to explain what happened. Mechanic said it sounded like a fuel issue. I explained van had new pump 1/2025 per recall. Van started for the mechanic, but it wasn’t a smooth start. He drove it on & off over the next 48 business hours. It didn’t stop. I picked it up on 4/2/25 & began to drive home. Again, while driving it completely turned off. Creating an unsafe situation as I wasn’t parked but with engine running & van in drive. 4/3/25 My van was returned to the repair shop. They ran diagnostics & replaced high pressure fuel pump. But the van was still not running correctly. Despite the fuel pump recently being replaced, the mechanic tested it anyway. He learned the fuel pump was not replaced as I was advised & as it was documented.
