1991 Honda ST1100 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

1. AFTER 4YRS AND 8000 MILES OF NORMAL USE (PRIMARILY COMMUTING), TIRE DEVELOPED A FAIRLY LARGE BULGE IN THE CARCASS, AS IF AN GRAPEFRUIT-SIZED TUMOR WAS INSIDE. IT IS ALSO SIGNIFICANTLY MORE WORN ON THE LEFT SIDE THAN ON THE RIGHT; THE FRONT TIRE SHOWED A MUCH MORE NORMAL (EVEN) WEAR PATTERN. 2. THE BULGE IS PERMANENT. PROBLEM MANIFESTED ITSELF IN THE FORM OF A CYCLIC VIBRATION WHICH WAS MOST PRONOUNCED BETWEEN 35-45 MPH. THE TIRE DID NOT DEFLATE OR DELAMINATE. 3. TIRE WAS REPLACED AND REMAINS AVAILABLE. *JS
