2011 Honda VT1300CX Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

BLINKER SWITCH BREAKS OFF AT ABOUT 30,000 MILES. I HAVE TWO HONDA MOTORCYCLES (ALSO HONDA VTX 1300 2007) THAT USE THE SAME SWITCH. EACH BIKE AT ABOUT 30,00 MILES; THE BLINKER THUMB SWITCH BREAKS OFF AS IT IS USED. I HAVE REPLACED ONE (OVER $100.00 TO GET SWITCH CABLE ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE PURCHASED) AND STILL HAVE ALL 3 EXAMPLES OF AN APPARENT CONSISTENT STRESS FLAW. THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS I HAVE BEEN DRIVING; GO TO USE BLINKER, IT COMES ON AND THE THUMB SWITCH BREAKS OFF. I WAS ABLE TO CATCH BUT HAD TO PULL OVER AND REMOVE BLINKER FUSE SO TO TURN OFF BLINKER, LEAVING NO HORN AVAILABLE AS THEY SHARE A FUSE. I REPORTED TO HONDA AND SENT PHOTOS, TRIED TO GET A LOCAL DEALER TO SUBMIT BUT THEY WOULD NOT. HAND SIGNALS ON A MOTORCYCLE ARE NOT IDEAL . PLEASE NOTE EACH BREAKS AT SAME PLACE AND AROUND 30,000 MILES. SEEMS ENGINEERING FLAW.

Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
