What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2009 Honda VTX1300, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

AFTER 4 YEARS OF USE, THE ODOMETER BLACKENED OUT TO THE POINT THAT I HAD NO WAY OF KNOWING MY MILEAGE. I REPLACED IT, AND NOW THE REPLACEMENT IS ALSO TOO DARK TO READ! I HAVE NO WAY OF KNOWING IF I AM RUNNING OUT OF GAS, NO WAY TO KNOW WHEN TO HAVE THE BRAKES CHECKED, NO WAY TO KNOW WHEN THE OIL SHOULD BE CHANGED, NO WAY TO KNOW IF IT IS TIME FOR ANY OTHER SAFETY CHECKS. I CONTACTED HONDA, THEY TOLD ME I SHOULD KEEP THE MOTORCYCLE IN THE GARAGE, AWAY FROM SUNLIGHT!?! I AM VERY RELUCTANT TO USE IT ON THE FREEWAYS ANYMORE, BECAUSE I WILL NOT KNOW WHEN I AM ABOUT TO RUN OUT OF GAS. THE ODOMETER IS A LCD PANEL, NOT A GOOD DESIGN.SEE PICTURE.
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
