2005 Honda XR650L Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

CHAIN OF EVENTS FOR ATV PURCHASE I HAVE A COMPLETE CALENDAR OF EVENTS TOO LONG FOR THIS FIELD. PLEASE CONTACT ME FOR THE COMPLETE DOCUMENTS. OIL LEAKS, FRAME RUSTING, ENGINE CORROSION, TSB SAFETY RECALL FOR TIE ROD ENDS WHICH COULD CAUSE DEATH CAME OUT IN APRIL OF 2005 AND WAS NOT DONE. SUBJECT: 2005 HONDA FOURTRAX FOREMAN 4X4 ES (TRX500) LOCATION OF PURCHASE: EAST BAY MOTORSPORTS 21756 FOOTHILL BLVD., HAYWARD, CA 10-8-05 I BROUGHT THE ATV BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION. I EXPLAINED THE DETAILS OF THE PROBLEMS TO THE STORE MANAGER. I ALSO TOLD HIM OF THE SAFETY RECALL WHICH WAS NOT DONE PRIOR TO MY PURCHASING THE ATV. UNBEKNOWNST TO ME, I DROVE THE ATV WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF A TIE ROD MALFUNCTIONING, POTENTIALLY CAUSING INJURY OR DEATH. HE DID NOT THINK TOO MUCH OF THE ISSUE AND TOLD ME THAT THE ATV RECALL MUST HAVE FELL THROUGH THE CRACKS. A SAFETY RECALL FALLING THROUGH THE CRACKS? UNACCEPTABLE! DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE ATV WITH A NEW GOOD UNIT. HONDA, NOT WANTING TO REPLACE RUSTED FRAME AND CORRODED ENGINE.*JB
