2020 Hyundai Elantra Fuel system Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the fuel system system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Fuel system reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I see there was a P0420 error code related to catalytic converter oil consumption recall, but when I put in my VIN it said no recalls. This is for a 2020 Hyundai Elantra 2020. The problem comes and goes and was able to be reproduced or confirmed by a dealer Hyundai. The warning lamps, messages comes on frequently and was reportedly fixed charges $2000 for a sensor. I the code and it is all over the internet that it is a recall.but does not show up with VIN.i need assistance with getting this fixed at the dealer

The warning lamp (engine light) illuminated blinking on and off. Engine code P1327 read on the diagnostic check, riding on the expressway was a little uncomfortable, engine was losing power which is unsafe at high speeds. I’ve contacted the nearest Hyundai dealer and scheduled an appointment for the car repair. I take care of the car and any repairs for maintenance and I never have any problems whatsoever until day. After doing research Hyundai had or has a recall for my vehicle with the VIN NUMBER starting with KMH, for engine replacement and I want to know if Hyundai can fix this issue.

The soldering of the end cap in the engine fuel rail failed and allowed gas under pressure to leak out. Fuel sprayed out in the engine compartment and the smell was evident inside and outside of the vehicle while in operation. Not sure how it did not start an engine fire. Repairing was a simple task that I handled as this is the only vehicle available to me. Ordered a new fuel rail which was only available from a dealer without issue and completing the repair went without issue. Did not have anyone else look at the problem as once I figured out the problem, did not want to drive the car anywhere. I have the old fuel rail for anyone who needs to inspect it.

This vehicle has been having engine problems since January 2 023 the engine light is on the car stops running completely while driving. A great danger to me. I have taken it 5 times to the service center at Dealer in Rick Case in Plantation they have kept it for several weeks the last was returned to me on March 23. 2023 I was told it was fixed on April 22 2023 the engine light went back on the same problem the car keeps stopping I took it in, they did not even look at it. I was told that until June 14 they will not see or diagnose it. I have contacted consumer affairs with no resolution. I wish to file a lemon law on this dealer since obviously it is defective beyond repair. please advise as how to take this action. I need a new reliable car. Thank You.

The car has issues with starting, and accelerating. Dealerships have zero availability for weeks out to provide any sort of diagnostics, and are unable to assist with this issue. The following email was sent to Hyundai Customer Service: I am currently leasing a 2020 Hyundai Elantra.  In July of this year, the car suddenly had trouble accelerating.  Being due for an oil change, and wanting to get the engine codes read, I contacted my local Hyundai dealership, and they had no availability for weeks.  I used a local service station to have the codes read/get the oil change, and the car continued to have difficulty (I am attaching the BlueLink reports on said codes).  I was finally able to bring it in to the local dealer who cleared the codes, and said they were the result of "not having enough oil."  The car drove well until 11/27, when the car started to sputter, not allowing it to accelerate properly, and with multiple error messages, including a flashing engine light.  After contact my local dealer who I first used in July, they said "it is probably low oil like last time, these cars are known to burn oil quickly."  I again brought it to my local service station for the oil change, and for a NYS inspection.  As my car is under 15k miles, and up-to-date with oil changes, I would imagine it would pass said inspection.  It did not.

I JUST BOUGHT/ FINANCED MY NEW 2020 HYUNDAI ELENTRA ON 11/15/2020 AND RECENTLY IN PAST COUPLE OF DAYS I HAVE EXPERIENCED TROUBLE WITH THE GAS/ THROTTLE/ POWER OF DRIVING MY NEW CAR. THE RPM IN MY VIDEO JUMPS UP & DOWN WITH NO POWER REALLY PUSHING TO DRIVE. I ALMOST GOT INTO 1 BAD ACCIDENT WITH A SEMI-TRUCK. ALSO THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR WAS LOW READING PSI OF 29 AND I NEVER RECEIVED A WARNING LIGHT UNTIL WAY LATER FOR PSI READING 32. EVEN THOUGH I AIRED MY TIRES TO THE CORRECT PSI MY WARNING LIGHTS ARE STILL ON.
