The defect: ON CERTAIN CAB-OVER CLASS 4 TRUCKS, THE SNAP-IN TIRE VALVE STEMS IN THE WHEELS OF THESE TRUCKS CAN LEAK AIR.
The risk: THIS CAN CAUSE A LOSS OF TIRE AIR PRESSURE, LEAD TO A RUPTURE OF THE TIRE, AND CAUSE A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL NEW TIRE VALVE STEMS. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN DECEMBER 28, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT HYUNDAI TRUCK AT 1-609-395-2300.

WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK

ALL FOUR TIRES WERE FLAT AND WIRE WAS STICKING OUT FROM THE SIDEWALL. THE DRIVER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR AN ANALYSIS AND THEY REPLACED ALL OF THE TIRES DUE TO BROKEN VALVE STEMS. *AK THE SECOND TIRE FAILURE SHOWED SIGNS OF EXTREME CENTER TIRE WEAR. *SC THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE RIM WAS NOT COMPATIBLE FOR THE VEHICLE. *JB

SNAP IN TYPE TIRE VALVE STEMS ON WHEELS LEAKS AIR.*MR THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE TIRE VALVES, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER HAD ALREADY REPLACED THE VALVE AT HIS/HER EXPENSE. THIS COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF TIRE PRESSURE AND LEAD TO A RUPTURE OF THE TIRE AND COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. *PH *JB *CB

VISIBILITY

This bulletin provides information regarding condensation related to the accumulated moisture in the headlamp, rear combination lamp, daytime running lamp (DRL), or fog lamp. This TSB illustrates the various causes of condensation inside the lamp assembly. Lamp assembly replacement is NOT necessary in most cases. This condition can be eliminated by turning on the lamps with the engine running for several minutes or during normal driving operation.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition.
