The defect: International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2025-2027 IC Bus EVSB and CESB school buses. The driver's window panel and entrance door vertical joints may have been attached without sufficient epoxy coverage. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength."
The risk: The body panels may separate during a crash, reducing structural integrity and increasing the risk of injury.
The remedy: Dealers will install rivets along the driver's side window seam and entrance door seam, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed September 14, 2026. The defect: International Motors, LLC (International) is recalling certain 2026-2027 IC Bus EVSB school buses. The mounting bracket bolts may have been improperly tightened, allowing the drive motor to detach.
The risk: A detach drive motor can become a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
The remedy: Dealers will tighten or replace the drive mounting bolts as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 22, 2026. The risk: Switch failure may lead to unintentionally working on an energized high voltage battery, increasing the risk of injury or death by electrical shock.
The remedy: Dealers will repair the high voltage disconnect connector bypass circuit, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 4, 2026. The body panel joint may have been attached without sufficient epoxy coverage. As such these vehicle fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 221, "School Bus Body Joint Strength."
The risk: The body panels may separate during a crash, reducing structural integrity and increasing the risk of injury.
The remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair the interior vertical joint as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed May 4, 2026.
