What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 1996 International Harvester 9100, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

UHAUL RENTED A TRUCK TO ME AND THE BRAKES WENT OUT ON ME COMPLETELY MINUTES AFTER DESCENDING THE STEEP WEST SLOPE OF WOLF CREEK PASS, COLORADO. UHAUL'S TOW TRUCK DRIVER FROM PAGOSA SPRINGS, COLORADO HAPPENED TO BE THERE AT THE TIME WHEN I PULLED OVER. HE CONFIRMED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THAT THERE WERE NO BRAKES. AT NIGHT, AWAY FROM A TOWN, I PERSONALLY, TEMPORARILY FIXED THE PROBLEM. BUT UHAUL, REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE ACKNOWLEDGE THE RISK TO MY LIKE AND DID NOT MAKE ANY EFFORT TO FIX THE TRUCK NOR REPLACE THE TRUCK. THEY SIMPLY TOLD ME TO RENT ANOTHER TRUCK IF I DID NOT WANT TO USE THAT TRUCK. SO I HAD TO PAY TWICE THE RENTAL FOR ONE TRUCK RENTAL. AS FAR AS I KNOW THEY NEVER SERVICED THAT TRUCK AND RENTED IT OUT TO SOMEONE ELSE WHO MAY HAVE BEEN INJURED. IT THERE ANYTHING YOU CAN DO TO AT LEAST MAKE SURE NO ONE ELSE RENTS THAT TRUCK BEFORE A REPAIR IS MADE. IF THIS IS NOT YOUR DEPARTMENT WHO CAN I WRITE TO THAT GOVERNS THIS TYPE OF NEGLECT. *JB
Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
