2006 Itasca Meridian Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I HAVE DISCOVERED A SEVERED WIRE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY OF THE FREIGHTLINER CHASSIS ON WHICH OUR 2006 ITASCA MERIDIAN MOTORCOACH IS BUILT. PICTURES ARE AVAILABLE SHOWING THE BROKEN WIRE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY UNDER THE FLOOR. APPARENTLY THE GREASE FITTING ON THE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT WAS THE MECHANISM THAT SNAGGED THE WIRE. THE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY AND THE STEERING COLUMN SHAFT ARE IN "VERY" CLOSE PROXIMITY AND THERE IS NO SHIELDING OR PROTECTION FOR THE WIRING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY. FREIGHTLINER CUSTOM CHASSIS CUSTOMER SUPPORT INDICATED THAT HAD BOTH WIRES BEEN SEVERED THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE LOST BRAKING. *NM

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
