2005 Jaguar Xj Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

What this page shows

Our database holds 6 NHTSA owner-reported complaints for the 2005 Jaguar Xj. Each one is a report filed by an owner or driver and published by NHTSA without most of them being verified. I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT UPON MOVING FORWARD I HEARD A LOUD GRINDING NOISE FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR AND LOST MY TRANSMISSION. THIS LEFT ME STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION AT RUSH HOUR WITH NO WARNING FORTUNATELY NO ONE CRASHED IN TO ME. I CALLED POLICE AND TOW TRUCK. VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHO HAVE REPLACED DIFFERENTIAL AND REAR AXLES. THE PRELIMINARY EXPLANATION GIVEN WAS THAT SOMETHING APPEARS TO HAVE BROKEN OFF THAT GROUND UP THE DIFFERENTIAL. AFTER COMPLETION OF REPAIR I WAS ONLY TOLD THAT THERE HAD BEEN A MALFUNCTION. VEHICLE IS 4 YEARS OLD WITH ABOUT 44000 MILE ON IT. THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED AND I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN AND THAT IF IT HAD OCCURRED AT HIGH SPEED I MIGHT NOT BE HERE TO WRITE THIS COMPLAINT. *TR THE CONSUMER STATED THE TRANSMISSION HAS SINCE FAILED AGAIN. Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
