1990 Jaguar XJ6 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

WHEN SHIFTING FROM "PARK" TO "DRIVE" VEHICLE BOLTED AHEAD AT FULL ACCELERATION WITHOUT MY TOUCHING ACCELERATOR PEDAL. APPLIED FULL BRAKE PEDAL WITH NO EFFECT AND COULD ONLY STOP VEHICLE BY TURNING OFF IGNITION WITH KEY. JAGUAR DEALER ADVISED ME THAT "BUILD UP OF CARBON AROUND THROTTLE LINKAGE" CAUSED THE PROBLEM. EXTREMELY LUCKY TO HAVE SUFFERED NO INJURIES TO ANYONE OR COLLISION DAMAGE. VEHICLE TRAVELED 75 FEET ACROSS BUSY INTERSECTION AT VERY HIGH SPEED BEFORE I COULD STOP IT. *AK
