2015 Jayco Fifth Wheel Seismic Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

THE REAR SPRING HANGER BRACKETS BROKE, WHICH LETS THE AXELS WOBBLE AND CAN CAUSE THE CAMPER TO LOOSE CONTROL. WE NOTICED THIS AT CAMPGROUNDS AND HAD TO HAVE THEM REPLACED WITH NEW THICKER BRACKETS. DRIVER'S SIDE WAS IN JULY PASSENGER SIDE WAS IN SEPTEMBER. ORIGINAL BRACKETS ARE 3/16" THICK METAL, REPLACEMENT BRACKETS ARE 1/4" THICK METAL. THE FAILURE IS BENDING FATIGUE AS SOME OF THE BEACH MARKS ARE OXIDIZED AND SOME ARE NOT.

THE SLIDE MECHANISM COMPLETELY FAILED IN THE DEALER SHOP. COMPLAINTS WHERE DOCUMENTED FOR 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE SLIDE COMPLETELY FELL OUT OF OPENING, THE RV WAS NOT IN MOTION AT THE TIME OF FAILURE, HOWEVER IF THIS HAD HAPPENED DURING TRANSPORT WHAT EFFECT WOULD IT HAD ON PUBLIC SAFETY. THE MANUFACTURER IS REPLACING SLIDE MOTORS, ALL THE ROLLERS UNDER THE SLIDE. ALSO ALL THE FRAME SUPPORTS ARE BENT (OUTRIGGERS). THEY ARE ADDING ADDITIONAL OUTRIGGERS. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. THE RV WAS DELIVERED MAY 27, 2015.
