1988 Jeep Cherokee Fuel system Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the fuel system system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Fuel system reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

FUEL INJECTORS CRACKED OR SEPARATED NEAR PRESSED SEALS. DEALER ESTIMATE OF 1000.00 TO REPLACE 6 INJECTORS AT 110.00 EACH. WITH ONE HOURS LABOR. I FOUND INJECTORS AT RETAIL SHOPS(I.E. TRAK, PEPBOYS, ETC.) FOR 55.00 EACH. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS POTENTIAL FATAL PROBLEM AND FOUND THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED DOZENS UPON DOZENS OF TIMES INCLUDING MANY REPORTS WITH NHTSA. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ISSUE NOT BLATANT ROBBERY FOR PARTS BY THE MANUFACTURER. NOW THIS OCCURS DURING COLD WEATHER, SO IT IS A SEASONAL OCCURRENCE. *AK
