2009 Kawasaki KLX250T9F Problems

Owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA, grouped by component

Data refreshed

Owner complaintsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

I BOUGHT A MOTORCYCLE ON NOVEMBER 19. I USED IT AROUND LESS THEN 30 MILES. NEXT DAY WHEN I WANTED TO USE IT DID NOT RUN SO I CALLED THE AGENCY WHERE I BOUGHT THE MOTORCYCLE AND THEY PICK IT UP. IS BEEN 2 WEEKS SINCE THEY PICK IT UP AND THEY HAVE THE MOTORCYCLE ALL IN PARTS FIXING IT AND I TOLD THEM TO GIVE ME A NEW ONE AND THEY DON'T WANT IT. SO I TOLD THEM THAT I WANTED TO RETURN IT, AND THEY DON'T WANT TO DO IT ETHER WAY. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT CAN I DO BECAUSE THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT IF I RETURN IT MY CREDIT WILL BE AFFECT IT. *TR

WELD NEAR THE KICKSTAND BROKE AWAY FROM THE FRAME CAUSING FRAME TO BEND NEAR BOLT AREA. VITAL PART OF FRAME, NOT SURE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF CONTINUED TO RIDE MOTORCYCLE. NOTIFIED DEALER FOR REPAIR, THEY CONTACT KAWASAKI WHO SAID THEY WOULD REPLACE THE FRAME. DEALER UNAWARE THAT FRAME WAS BACK ORDERED TILL POSSIBLY END OF NOVEMBER OR LONGER. NOW KAWASAKI HAS ASKED THE DEALER IF I WOULD CONSIDER LETTING THEM WELD THE FRAME UNTIL THE REPLACEMENT ARRIVES. I ADVISED THE DEALER I WOULD NOT RIDE A MOTORCYCLE WITH A WELDED FRAME, UNLESS KAWASAKI IS GOING TO TAKE THE LIABILITY IF IT BREAKS WHILE I'M RIDING THE BIKE. THE MOTORCYCLE IS A 2009 KLX 250S AND HAS 300 MILES. IF THIS HAS OCCURRED ON MY BIKE, THEN HOW MANY OTHERS MIGHT BE OUT THERE. I RODE THE BIKE HOME AND NOTICED IT WAS LEANING A LITTLE FURTHER THEN NORMAL, WENT TO PUT IT IN THE GARAGE AND NOTICED THE ENTIRE WELD HAD BROKE AWAY FROM THE FRAME, KICKSTAND COULD HAVE COME LOOSE DURING RIDE CAUSING POSSIBLE EJECTION FROM THE BIKE IF HIT SOMETHING IN THE ROAD.. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE YET TO REPAIR THE BIKE, EXCEPT THE PROMISE OF REPLACING THE FRAME, AND WHO KNOWS WHEN THAT WILL HAPPEN. CONTACT TRACY MOTORSPORTS, TRACY CA THE BIKE IS IN THE SHOP WAITING FOR SERVICE. *TR

Too few reports in this category for a page of its own — they appear in the full complaint list.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
