What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2009 Kawasaki Versys, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

Visibility
Reports naming windshields, glass, wipers, defrosters and mirrors.
From owner reports, verbatim
THE SIDE MIRRORS FOR MY KAWASAKI VERSYS HAS HAD REPEATED FAILURES. I'VE HAD TO TRY TO REPAIR AND THEN REPLACE THE MIRRORS MULTIPLE TIMES. THE MIRROR CAN NOT BE TIGHTENED AND HAT SPEEDS > 30MPH THE WIND PUSHES THE MIRROR ALL THE WAY IN MAKING IT INOPERABLE. I'VE TIRED TO HAVE REPAIR SHOPS FIX BUT THEY SAID IT IS IMPOSSIBLE.
KAWASAKI VERSYS MOTORCYCLE HAS SIDE MIRRORS THAT ARE ALWAYS SHAKING WHILE DRIVING SO IT IS HARD TO SEE AND IDENTIFY THE TRAFFIC BEHIND YOU CLEARLY. *TR

2009 KAWASAKI VERSYS MOTORCYCLE LEFTHAND MIRROR COMES LOOSE AND SPINS WHILE UNDERWAY. OCCURS APPROXIMATELY EVERY RIDE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, EVEN AFTER RE-ALIGNMENT AND TIGHTENING INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL NUTS. *TR

Other / unspecified
Reports whose component NHTSA recorded as unknown, or that do not map to one of the categories above.
From owner reports, verbatim
REAR VIEW MIRRORS LOOSEN DURING RIDE, EVEN AFTER TIGHTENING, WHICH MAKES IT UNSAFE TO SEE BEHIND. I HAVE TIGHTENED THE BOLTS SEVERAL TIMES AND LOOKED ONLINE FOR ADVICE. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND BELIEVE THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD REPAIR. ALTHOUGH I HAVE ONE DATE BELOW, IT CONTINUES TO BE A PROBLEM. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
