What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2000 Kawasaki ZX1200-A1, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

WIRES CONNECTORS THAT ATTACH THE REGULATOR/RECTIFIER AND STATOR MELTED. WHITE SMOKE WAS EMITTING FROM UNDER THE REAR SEAT. AFTER REMOVING THE SEAT, I NOTICE THAT OIL WAS PRESENT IN THE AREA SURROUNDING THE REGULATOR/RECTIFIER AND ONE OF WIRES HAD BURN LOOSE. THIS ALSO CAUSED THE JUNCTION/BOX HEADLIGHT RELAY SWITCH TO FAIL. I RECEIVED A $175 EQUIPMENT FAILURE TICKET. FORTUNATELY IT WAS ABOUT 6:00 PM AND STILL LIGHT OUT. I CALL THE LOCATE KAWASAKI DEALER TO SEE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS. I HAD TO CUT WIRES TO THE REGULATOR/RECTIFIER, STATOR AND SOLDER/CRIMP, BECAUSE THE CONNECTOR WAS BADLY DAMAGE; THERE WASN'T A GOOD CONNECTION BEING MADE. I ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE JUNCTION/FUSE BOX, BECAUSE IT HOUSED A RELAY THAT OPERATES THE LIGHTS. OLD PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. *JB
