What this page shows
Everything below is an owner-reported complaint submitted to NHTSA about the 2006 Kawasaki ZX1400A6F, grouped by the component NHTSA recorded on the report. These are not confirmed defects, and they are not recalls. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a category with more reports in it is not evidence that a part is defective.
Complaints are reports submitted by owners and drivers to NHTSA. They are not verified and do not establish that a defect exists.

From owner reports, verbatim
I WAS RIDING IN TO A TUNNEL AND HEARD A CRACK TYPE NOISE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN SMOKE APPEARED, THE REAR TIRE WAS RUBBING UNDER SUBFRAME SLOWING THE BIKE DOWN, THE REAR SUSPENSION HAD COLLAPSED AND THE CROSSMEMBER SEPARATED FROM THE FRAME. THE SHOCK MOUNT IS HANGING OFF THE FRAME. THIS COULD HAVE POSSIBLY CAUSED A FATAL ACCIDENT. *TR

I HAVE NOT HAD AN INCIDENT AS OF YET BUT THE PROBLEM I HAVE DEALS WITH REAR BRAKE LIGHTS NO COMING ON WHEN PRESSURE PLACED ON BRAKE LEVER. IT TAKES MORE PRESSURE TO MAKE THEM COME ON THAN IS NEEDED TO STOP IN MOST SITUATIONS. I HAVE TAKEN THE MOTORCYCLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY DIDN'T FIX IT AND THEN I CALLED KAWASAKI RECALL NUMBER AND THEY SAID I NEEDED TO GET BACK TO THE DEALER ABOUT IT. I HAVE ALREADY HAD TO PAY FOR THEM JUST TO LOOK AT THEM AND TELL ME THERE WASN'T A FIX FOR THIS. SINCE THAT TIME I HAVE CHATTED ONLINE WITH OTHER OWNERS OF THIS BIKE THAT HAVE FOUND THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. *NM

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A KAWASAKI 1400 AS A BIRTH DAY GIFT FOR MY HUSBAND. I HAD IT EXACTLY 48 DAYS. SATURDAY 6/17/06 HE WAS OUT RIDING HIS BIKE ON 290 EXPRESSWAY IN CHICAGO AT 90 MPH WITH A BUS BEHIND HIM THE BIKE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WE DO NOT NEED TO EXPLORE THE POSSIBILITIES OF WHAT COULD HAVE WENT WRONG. HAD IT BEEN AN ACCIDENT THE FIRST THOUGHT WOULD HAVE BEEN RIDER ERROR AS OPPOSED TO MECHANICAL ERROR. THANK GOD HE WAS RIDING IN THE RIGHT HAND LANE. HE RODE A SUZUKI 1300 FOR YEARS AND NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS. HE IS A VERY SEASONED RIDER AND HE HAS BEEN RIDING SINCE 93 AND WE ALWAYS BOUGHT SUZUKI. NOW MY QUESTION IS IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERN FOR YOUR CUSTOMERS HOW DO YOU INTEND TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION HE PURCHASED THE BIKE FROM DGY IN DOWNERS GROVE. WE CALLED TO SEE IF THEY HEARD A RESPOND FROM THE MANUFACTURES NO ONE HAS RESPONDED AS IF THIS IS A MINOR SITUATION THIS IS A MAJOR SITUATION BECAUSE THIS IS MY HUSBANDS LIFE THE FATHER OF MY CHILDREN. IF YOU HAVE ANY CONCERN FOR YOUR CONSUMERS PLEASE CONTACT ME AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE. IF I AM NOT CONTACTED I WILL TAKE THAT AS A DISREGARD FOR YOUR CONSUMERS AND I WILL CONTACT THE CHICAGO SUN TIMES AND LET THE PUBLIC KNOW ABOUT THIS ERROR. *JB
