Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

THE ABS AND BRAKE LIGHT KEEP TURNING ON AND OFF. THIS HAPPENS AS SOON AS THE CAR HAS HEATED UP . IT IS NOT ON WHEN I FIRST START THE CAR IT ONLY COMES ON AFTER I HAVE DRIVE THE CAR FOR A WHILE. THIS PROBLEM HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. WHEN I TALKED TO THE FORD DEALERSHIP, THEY ACTED AS IF THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE WINDSTARS ABS ECM SYSTEM. THIS SEEMS TO ME TO BE A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD. I THOUGHT THE ABS BREAKING SYSTEM WAS AN IMPORTANT SYSTEM ON CARS! DOING SOME RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT IT IS DUE A DEFECTIVE PART AND FORD WANTS TO BRUSH IT UNDER THE RUG. NOW I KNOW WHY THE DEALER ACTED AS IF HE HAD NEVER HEARD OF THE PROBLEM BEFORE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM THAT MANY WINDSTARS ARE HAVING AND THEY WANT TO IGNORE IT. THEIR SEEMS TO BE NO CONCERN FOR SAFETY HERE. I ONLY FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BY GOING ON THE INTERNET AND ASKING WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MY VAN. I HOPE FORD ADMITS TO THIS PROBLEM AND ADDRESSES IT SO NO LIVES ARE LOST DUE TO POOR BRAKE PERFORMANCE! *TR

EARLY GENERATION DODGE DURANGO (98-01) HAS ABS PROBLEMS, CAUSING ABS TO SHUT DOWN, LEAVING THE BRAKE PEDAL VERY LOW. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND THE VEHICLE WAS NEVER RECALLED ON THIS. FIX TO PROBLEM SEEMS TO ONLY BE A COMPLETE BRAKE SYSTEM REBUILD, WITH AFTERMARKET PARTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM AND NOT HAVE IT RETURN AGAIN. I HAVE HEARD THAT SOME PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES DUE TO THIS PROBLEM AND I THINK IT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED EVEN THOUGH THESE VEHICLES ARE OLD, THEY ARE NOT SAFE AND NEED TO BE RECALLED FOR THE OWNERS AND EVERYONE SAFETY AROUND THEM. *TR

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
