The contact owns a 2014 Kia Cadenza. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle independently went into LIMP Mode and failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that several unknown warning lights flashed on the instrument panel. The contact was able to coast the vehicle over to the shoulder of the roadway. The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic, and it was discovered that there was no oil in the engine. A diagnostic test was performed; however, no oil leaks or failures were discovered. The manufacturer was then notified of the failure and the contact was advised to take the vehicle to a dealer for service. The mechanic added oil to the engine and the contact drove to the local dealer. The contact was informed that an oil change was needed; however, the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The contact was also informed that the vehicle was not covered under recall or warranty. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 177,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Kia Cadenza. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in a recall 23V652000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic) and was taken to the dealer for the recall repair. After the repair was completed, while attempting to accelerate, the vehicle hesitated before accelerating. The contact stated that on several occasions the vehicle was shifted into reverse and then driven before accelerating as intended. Additionally, the sunroof was leaking. The vehicle was taken to SAFELITE Auto Glass, and the contact was informed that there was no adhesive glue on the top of the windshield from the driver to the passenger’s side, causing a slight detachment. The contact was also informed that the sunroof had severe rusting around the seal due to rain being able to leak from the lack of adhesive. The rust caused the handle for the sunroof to detach. The windshield had been replaced by SAFELITE Auto Glass. The failure persisted and the vehicle was returned to SAFELITE Auto Glass, and the windshield was replaced a second time 3 years later. The contact stated that due to the water leak, the dashboard started bubbling and eventually burst resulting in a hole being formed. The windshield had been replaced. The contact learned the VIN was included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V158000 (Visibility). The vehicle had been taken to the dealer who had replaced the dashboard and removed the cup attached to the windshield and installed a defrosting sensor. The contact stated that the leak persisted. I purchased a 2014 Kia Cadenza from San Leandro Kia on 05/16/17 As a Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle. On 02/16/23, my engine started knocking. I took to get an oil change, because I thought that was the problem but was told it was my engine. I couldn’t get an appt w/ Kia dealership where I purchased my car until Tue 03/21/23 Upon calling I was asked my vin# & asked the # of miles. I stated approx 98k. The service rep -[XXX] said oh, you’re right under the mark (100k). I did not drive the car after 02/16 & actually had it towed home from Pep Boys, who suggested I get it towed due to oil showing in the coolant reserve. I recv’d a call from Kia yesterday stating they had to contact corporate for instructions. Today, rep-[XXX] called to say corporate said my coverage ended in April 2019 @60k ml. I adv her that I have my original sales ppwk sticker that was on my vehicle and it states 10yr/100k ml. She stated what corporate says is usually the final answer. I advised I do not agree & how can I contact them? She said there is no way to contact them. I found the # online & cld. I was told the same thing BUT was adv it was denied because I didn’t purchase a CPO-Certified Pre Owned Vehicle! I replied that they then sold me a deceptive description cus my sticker States it’s include it also notes the 10yr/100k warranty which covers me as a 2nd owner & I also registered my vehicle with CarFax as suggested to do once car was purchased as CPO. After researching Kia, I see that there were recalls on three other Kia vehicles, but my model isn’t listed nor was it part of the Class Action Lawsuit, which many other owners of this model also had engine issues of knocking/ticking/ rattling at start-up. I was even more shocked to see that the same complaints I’d made to my Kia dealership when taking car in for service, that “that’s normal”. I just paid off my car, I am under 100kml and wont reach my 10th year until May 2023. This is not right & I want to file a lawsuit. Plz contact me! INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INF

POP UP WIND SCREEN LOCATED AT FRONT OF PANORAMIC ROOF BECAME RUSTED THROUGH . FOR SOME REASON THE ENGINEERS CHOSE FERROUS MATERIAL THAT IS CONSTANTLY EXPOSED TO MOISTURE AND HIGH HUMIDITY AT ALL TIMES . THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS , AS THE WINDSCREEN IS SUBJECT TO VERY HIGH STRESS AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS . THIS CORROSION CAN CAUSE THE PART TO FAIL AND INTRUDED UPON THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE INJURING OCCUPANTS

A few weeks ago we were driving into town and the car had a light turned on and the smoke was coming out of the front and it smelled burnt. Then the car completely stopped. We almost wrecked. I was pregnant at the time and shod know what could have happened if we wrecked because the car had completely stopped and turned off. I Had to tow the car to a mechanic. The mechanic has not looked at it. It’s just there parked. 1367 US Hwy 41 N, Calhoun, GA Proctor garage. I have been waiting on an update on recalls since the letter I received as I was reading it and it clearly said on the bottom a big warning notice if the car smoked and light turned on to take to local Kia dealership. I paid full price at a dealership for this car only had it for a full year and this happens. This is very dangerous my family and I could if really gotten hurt now I am without a car that has a recall and Kia is not willing to help at the moment. I am not the first person that has had problems with the Kia cadenza 2014. Something needs to be done for us who own it. It’s a waste of money with Kia worst thing money don’t grow on trees and I need Kia to show up for this situation I need my car fixed or a settlement for owning a recalled Kia Cadenza.
Several times the car has accelerated without me pushing on the gas pedal. Kia has been unable to find a problem.

The rear wheel cracked and I had to have it repaired, and the vehicle has been making a ticking noise for 3 years and the Dealer in Colorado Springs told me don’t worry about it , it was a common noise, that was 2020. Now I have found out that the tension pulley and/or the timing tension pulley is bad . How is this a common problem? They want to replace my engine. Not to mention the problem that all KIA’S have the steering coupler that is going out. How are these not all recall problems as I have found on your site multiple complaints of the same nature.

SINCE THE PURCHASED OF MY 2014 KIA CADENZA IN 2016, I'VE HAD MAJOR ISSUES. I'VE TAKEN IT TO KIA FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND FOR ISSUES I'VE DISCOVERED AND NO ONE COULDN'T FIND THE ISSUE. HOWEVER, THE ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED WHEN THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE CAR CONSTANTLY STOPS ON THE EXPRESSWAY IN HIGH TRAFFIC, I ALMOST GOT HIT SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY CUTTING OFF WITH NO WARNING. AFTER MULTIPLE CALLS & EMAILS, THE DEALER FIXED THE THROTTLE BODY; HOWEVER, I'VE HAD CONTINUOUS ISSUES SUCH AS BURNING SMELLS AND WHITE SMOKE. SAME DEALER IGNORED ME AND TOLD ME IT WAS BECAUSE OF LEAVES BURNING IN THE VENT. DECEMBER 2020, I WAS TOLD THE CAR NEED A ENGINE. KIA WILL NOT COVER IT BECAUSE THERE'S NO RECALLS ON THIS VIN; HOWEVER, OTHER OWNERS WITH SAME MAKE/MODEL SHOW RECALLS. DOES SOMEONE IN MY FAMILY NEED TO DIE UNTIL SOMEONE TAKES THIS ISSUE SERIOUSLY AND ASSUME ACCOUNTABILITY. IT'S EVIDENT I WAS SOLD A DEFECTED CAR AND LIKE MOST WOMEN CAR BUYERS, DEALERS/MECHANICS, THINK WE DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT CARS SO THEY GIVE US FALSE INFORMATION AND TURN US AWAY THEN TELL US WHAT IS NEEDED WHEN THE WARRANTY EXPIRES.

Exterior lighting
Reports naming headlights, tail lights, turn signals and other exterior lighting.

FRONT PASSENGER HEADLIGHT IS NO LONGER FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE BULB IS BRAND NEW. WHILE DRIVING, THE LIGHT WILL FLICKER ON AND OFF, THEN TURN OFF COMPLETELY. ALL OF THE FUSES ARE INTACT AND FUNCTIONING, MULTIPLE SHOPS (INCLUDING THE KIA DEALERSHIP) HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM AND ARE RECOMMENDING A COMPLETE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY REPLACEMENT.
ALL OF A SUDDEN MY HEADLIGHTS STOPPED WORKING AT NIGHT TIME. I LOOKED ONLINE AND SEVERAL OTHER CAR OWNERS HAVE HAD SIMILAR PROBLEMS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS ISSUED A MEMO FOR SEVERAL DIFFERENT MAKES AND MODELS. THE LIGHTS WERE WORKING WHEN I PULLED INTO MY PARKING SPACE TO GO WATCH A MOVIE AND WHEN I CAME OUT THEY WERE NO LONGER WORKING. THIS IS A TERRIBLE SAFETY HAZARD IF LIGHTS ON THE CAR RANDOMLY GO OUT ESPECIALLY IN THE EVENING. DEALERS HAVE ISSUED A RECALL FOR A DIFFERENT MODEL NOTING FAULTY PARTS BUT NOT FOR MY CAR MODEL.

Airbags
Reports naming the air-bag system — deployment behaviour, inflators, sensors and warning lights.
From owner reports, verbatim
I PURCHASED A KIA CADENZA IN SEPT. 2014. ONE OF THE REASONS THAT I SELECTED THIS VEHICLE WAS THE SAFETY RECORD OF THE VEHICLE. THIS KIA CADENZA CAME WITH DUAL FRONT AND REAR SEAT-MOUNTED SIDE AIRBAGS. ON JAN. 19TH, 2015 I WAS BROAD SIDED WHILE DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. MY KIA WAS HIT WITH GREAT FORCE AT THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR. THE IMPACT SENT MY CAR INTO A CIRCULAR SPIN. MY KIA HAD A HOLE IN THE PASSENGER REAR DOOR WHERE THE REAR SEAT WAS EXPOSED. THE IMPACT WAS TREMENDOUS AND NO AIR BAG DEPLOYED. NO FRONT, REAR OR SIDE CURTAIN. THE CAR HAS BEEN DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS. I TALKED TO THE KIA CORPORATION ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND ASKED WHY NO AIR BAG WENT OFF. THAT WAS A WEEK AFTER THE ACCIDENT AND I AM STILL WAITING ON THAT PHONE CALL. THESE INCIDENTS SHOULD NOT BE IGNORED. THE SENSOR SYSTEM DETECTING IMPACT AND FORCE OF IMPACT TOTALLY FAILED...UPDATED 02/24/15*BF *TR UPDATED 9/21/2017*CN
THE 2014 CADENZA DOES NOT OFFERS A HEIGHT SEAT ADJUSTMENT FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER SO IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR MY WIFE TO GET IT AND OUT. I CALLED KIA AND I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM UNLESS I GET THE 2015 MODEL. SO I BOUGHT A SEAT CUSHION TO INCREASE THE HEIGHT . THE PROBLEM NOW IS THAT THE " OFF WARNING LIGHT" FOR THE AIR BAGS DOES NOT ACTIVATE TO ON WHEN YOU SEAT, WHICH MEANS THAT IF THERE'S IS AN ACCIDENT, THOSE BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY AND COULD LEAD TO CATASTROPHIC INJURIES. KIA STATES THAT PROBLEM WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BE FIXED.MANY CADENZA OWNERS ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
