I was doing a yearly inspection of this motorcycle when I noticed the plastics had began to separate. After removing the plastics to try and reset their positions it was apparent that the fuel tank had become swollen and enlarged by approx 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch total. After speaking with a dealer as well as an independent repair shop I was advised that the tank needed to be replaced out of safety concerns. KTM does not warranty this item or acknowledge that its a known issue according to local KTM dealers. Its a bit too pricey($1800+Tax+Labor) to replace totaling almost the cost of trading in for the latest year model versus repair. That is assuming the part can be found in a dealers network as they will not warranty parts they do not provide.

The fuel tank expanded after only 1 year of operation, 3600 miles. The fuel tank has expanded to the point of resting on the exhaust and stretching the rear fender plastics apart. I submitted it for warranty repair 6/2/2025 and KTM has approved the repair but not provided a new replacement and the vehicle and been disabled due to this issue for a year now and they has zero solutions or compensation for a defective fuel tank.
