2016 Kzrv Sporttrek Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

While greasing the wheel bearings on my 2016 SportTrek ST282VRL I found cracks on both sides of frame in the location between the spring mounts. The cracks are located on the doubler propagating from the large huck bolt on the forward side of the axle and spring mount. On the right side there was one crack that ran through the huck bolt. On the left side there were two cracks running through the bolt. I stop-drilled each crack and will be getting a hold of the frame manufacturer for a repair plate or welding instructions. These cracks were between 1 inch to 2 inch long. The enclosed picture is one I found on line in the same area. This seems to be a problem that has been going on for a few years now. My rig doesn't have that many miles on it, less than 10k. RVs with BAL/Norco frames have the same issues too. They have a repair kit for that area.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
