The defect: Lakota Corp (Lakota) is recalling certain model year 2014 CX9-BBX18 (Charger and Bighorn) recreational trailers. Due to a design change in the power awning motor assembly, the motor assembly screws may unknowingly shear.
The risk: If motor damage occurs, it is possible that the awning can unfurl unexpectedly, either while the motorhome is at rest or while in transit, increasing the risk of personal injury or a vehicle crash.
The remedy: Lakota will notify owners and Dometic staff will replace the affected motors with motors of a different design. The recall began during September 2013. Owners may contact Lakota Corp at 1-574-848-1636 or Dometic at 1-888-447-0003 for more information. Owners are being instructed not to drive their vehicle until repairs can be performed.

TONIGHT WIFE PULL TRAILER WITH ONE HORSE LOADED AND THE TIRES ON THE DRIVER SIDE BULDGING TO THE POINT THEY WERE READY TO EXPLODE. ARE THESE TIRES PART OF THE MAJOR RECALL DONE IN 2014.. PURCHASED 5 FROM SIMPLE TIRE.COM

2013 GOODYEAR MARATHON ST235/80R16 LOAD E TIRE INSTALLED ON A 2014 LAKOTA CHARGER 8313 LIVING QUARTERS TRAILER. WIFE COMING HOME FROM HARRIMAN, TN TO NORTHERN VIRGINIA WHEN ON THE ROAD FOR 30 MINUTES WITH THREE SHOW HORSES VALUED MORE THAN THE FORD F450 AND TRAILER COMBINED INSIDE WHEN THE PASSENGER SIDE TRAILER TIRE EXPLODED. SHE WAS TRAVELING ON INTERSTATE 40 AT NORMAL SPEED WHEN IT OCCURRED. LUCKILY SHE MANAGED TO CONTROL THE TRAILER AND TRUCK AND NOT WRECK AND GET OFF THE INTERSTATE AND PARK SAFELY IN ORDER TO PUT THE SPARE TIRE ON. THE TIRE DID 2500 DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE TO THE TRAILER WHEEL WELL, LIGHTS, ETC. AFTER REVIEWING OTHER POSTS ON THIS TIRE BEING INSTALLED ON HORSE TRAILER, RVS, ETC, THESE TIRES ST235/80R16 BY GOODYEAR SEEM TO BE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES WITH EXPLODED WHILE ON THE ROAD. THE TIRE SEPARATED AND WHOLE MIDDLE SECTION PILLED OFF LIGHT IT WAS NOTHING. I HAVE UPLOADED PICTURES FOR YOU TO SEE IN REGARDS TO WHAT I AM EXPLAINING. IN ADDITION TO WHAT I READ, SEEMS THAT GOODYEAR WAS HAVING THESE PARTICULAR TIRES MADE IN CHINA NOT IN THE US. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED ON THESE TIRES BY EITHER GOODYEAR OR LAKOTA. PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR A HORSE TRAILER AND PUTTING CHEAP TIRES ON IT IS ONLY DONE WHEN TRYING TO SAVE ON COST.

GOODYEAR MARATHON ST235/80 R16 LOAD RANGE E ARE INSTALLED ON MY 2014 LAKOTA 8313 LIVING QUARTERS HORSE TRAILER. THE TIRES MAY HAVE 10000 MILES ON THEM. WIFE COMING HOME FROM HARRIMAN, TN WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE REAR TIRE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE EXPLODED. SHE DID NOT HIT NO POTHOLE OR RUN OVER ANYTHING. THE WHOLE CENTER TREAD OF THE TIRE SEPARATED. SHE WAS GOING NORMAL SPEED OF 55 MPH WHEN THIS OCCURRED. SHE WAS TRANSPORTING OUR HORSES. WHEN THE TIRE EXPLODED, IT CAUSED OVER 2500 DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE TO OUR TRAILER. AFTER READING REVIEW AFTER REVIEW IN REGARDS TO THIS TIRE, WE ARE NOT THE FIRST ONES THIS HAS HAPPEN TOO. THERE ARE A LOT OF FOLKS WHO PULL HORSE TRAILERS THAT HAVE HAD THESE TIRES DO THE SAME THING TO THEM-EXPLODE AND COME APART WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH A POOR QUALITY TIRE MADE BY GOODYEAR. AN INVESTIGATION NEED TO BE OPEN ON THIS TIRE AND A RECALL ISSUED BEFORE SOMEONE GET KILLED FROM A TIRE EXPLODING AND A TRAILER FLIPPING OVER.

PURCHASED A USED 2013 LAKOTA CAMPER TRAILER IN 2015. LOOKED VERY NEW, AND TIRES SHOWED LITTLE SIGN OF WEAR, WHICH MATCHED THE OWNERS DESCRIPTION OF HAVING LOW MILEAGE. HOWEVER, ON TRIP OUT WEST A TIRE ON THE LEFT SIDE BEGAN TO COME APART AFTER ONLY 200 MILES. THIS HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE, SO WE WERE GOING ~ 70 MPH. WE STOPPED WHEN WE HEARD THE THUMPING AND PUT ON THE SPARE. BUT AFTER ANOTHER 200 MILES THE SPARE BLEW OUT TOO. THE TIRE WAS COMPLETELY SHREDDED THIS TIME. THE OTHER THREE TIRES MADE IT FOR THE NEXT 4000 MILES.
