The contact owns a 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Velar. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 26V248000 (Electrical System); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The contact stated that upon coming to a stop on several occasions, the vehicle cycled between revving and stalling, and the vehicle then resumed normal operation independently. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer was contacted and confirmed that parts were not yet available. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was contacted by phone and by email but had not responded. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000.

On June 13, 2026 my 2023 Range Rover Velar (79,772 miles) suffered a sudden, complete engine failure at highway speed on HWY 70 in Durham, NC. No warning lights, oil pressure alerts, or dashboard notifications appeared before or during the failure. The vehicle had operated well since purchase with no prior issues of any kind. I was to cross the hwy onto the shoulder, this was a serious safety hazard for myself and other motorists. Land Rover is holding me liable for $32,000 in repairs, claiming a maintenance interval overage of ~36,000 miles caused the failure. No written root cause analysis has been provided. I am disputing this for four reasons: 1. RECALL N763 / N763v3: This recall covers a camshaft carrier oil gallery defect on 2023-2024 Velar engines causing oil leaks and engine damage. My VIN falls outside the listed range, but my failure is fully consistent with this defect. I request evaluation for recall expansion. 2. OIL FILTER HOUSING TSB: A TSB for 2023 Velar Ingenium I6 3.0L engines documents oil filter housings cracking and causing high-pressure oil leaks — a second documented oil system defect matching my failure. 3. NO WARNING LIGHTS: Recall N763 states affected vehicles display an oil pressure warning before engine damage. No warning appeared on my vehicle before complete engine failure at highway speed — indicating either the warning system failed, or the failure was too sudden and structural to trigger it. Both are safety risks. 4. MANUFACTURER BAD FAITH: Land Rover attributes this failure to maintenance neglect with no written diagnostic evidence, despite a documented federal recall covering the same defect pattern on the same engine family. I request NHTSA: - Evaluate my VIN for inclusion in expanded Recall N763; - Investigate whether the warning system functioned as designed; - Investigate if Land Rover is systematically using maintenance neglect claims to deny recall-related repairs outside the current VIN range.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? The Lane Keep Assist (LKA) system on my 2023 Range Rover Velar P250 has lost its active steering intervention capability following one or more Software Over The Air (SOTA) updates. The system no longer applies corrective steering torque to keep the vehicle within lane markings. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Lane Keep Assist was a functional active safety system at the time of purchase, applying steering corrections to prevent unintended lane departure. That active intervention has been removed or disabled through a software update without my knowledge or consent. The vehicle now drifts across lane lines at highway speeds with no corrective action from the system. This increases the risk of a lane departure collision, particularly during momentary driver inattention — the exact scenario this system is designed to protect against. I was not notified that this safety capability would be altered or removed. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? I brought the vehicle to my authorized Land Rover dealership under warranty. The dealer acknowledged the system behavior but told me it was "working as intended" under the current software version. They did not reproduce the original functionality or offer a remedy. The dealer did not dispute that the active steering correction is absent — they simply classified the current behavior as acceptable. Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? The vehicle was inspected by my authorized Land Rover dealership, which is a manufacturer-affiliated service center. No independent inspection has taken place.
