Continuous coolant leak
Driving and suddenly got "engine overheating low coolant stop engine immediately" warning message on instrument cluster. Pulled over and found coolant pouring out of front of engine. There was no warning or signs of prior coolant leakage before this incident. Happened suddenly without warning. Dealer found coolant pipe assembly part number LR100352 split at seam. This is the fourth failure of the same part number, same failure within a three year period and 30000 miles. All parts where Land Rover parts supplied by dealership. Repeated issues of low cooling warning leading to engine overheating - severely resulting in tow in. Prior Land Rover dealer repair (prior to my purchase under certified warranty) was inadequate, causing coolant crossovers in front and rear to be cracked. Engine overheated steamed close to home, and vehicle towed in to LR dealer in area. Took two months to repair and at time, they thought engine was blown, but assured me repairs complete. Within 6 months, same warning light, took to LR Dallas dealer and said no issue. Within 13 months of major repair, taken into LR Dallas dealer, and now told I need a brand new engine. Repeated repairs the same engine defect, issue and now LR won't repair under warranty (now) when I was told a few weeks ago, they would repair with new engine. Now, have a completely worthless car, that was certified 2.75 years ago. Total shop time for all this 5 months and counting.
One or more rigid pipes in the coolant system failed when driving down the interstate. This resulted in almost immediate overheating and the computer curtailed engine power, apparently to prevent permanent engine damage. This was very dangerous, as I was in heavy 80+ mph traffic and lost power before I could pull off onto the shoulder. This is apparently a common problem, as the rigid pipes separate at the manufacturing seam. I was still under warranty, and Land Rover had us towed to the closest dealer which was 75 miles away. That dealer told me they had two other Land Rovers in the shop with the same identical problem, and that these pipes fail "by 50,000 miles every time" (I was at 47,500 miles). The pipes in question are on all the 5.0 liter V8's used in Land Rover and Jaguar products, but the failure seems more common on Supercharged versions of the V8 (which I have). The pipes are under the supercharger and subjected to excessive heat/cool cycling which leads to failure.
VEHICLE WENT FROM PARK TO REVERSE BY ITSELF. DRIVERS DOOR WAS WIDE OPEN WHEN MY WIFE STARTED VEHICLE AND BY IT SELF IT ENGAGED IN REVERSE AND RAN THE DOOR INTO A WALL. THE VEHICLE ALMOST RAN OVER MY WIFE WHILE SHE WAS ATTEMPTING TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. LUCKILY SHE WAS ABLE TO JUMP BACK IN AND PUSH THE BRAKE TO STOP THE CAR. MY SON WAS BEHIND THE CAR LOADING ITEMS. LUCKILY HE HAD MOVED SECONDS BEFORE.
I WAS DRIVING IN THE LEFT LANE OF HIGHWAY AND EVERYTHING IN CAR SHUT DOWN. NO ACCELERATION, NO BRAKES, STEERING, NO ELECTRICAL PANEL, NO FLASHERS, NO BLINKERS. NOTHING. MORE PARTS THAN IISTED ABOVE WERE AFFECTED, BUT IT ONLY ALLOWED ME TO SELECT THREE
