2009 Lexus Gs Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE ACTUATOR FAILED, CAUSING IT TO BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THOUSANDS OF LEXUS/TOYOTAS PRODUCED AROUND THIS TIME. INSTEAD OF WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT (WHICH MY CAR NO LONGER QUALIFIES FOR), THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL SO ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS FAULTY COMPONENT CAN BE PROPERLY REPAIRED. THE COST TO REPAIR WAS QUOTED FROM THE DEALER AT $3800!

THE ENGINE HAS BEEN BURN OIL RAPIDLY. I WENT FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE TECH INFORMED ME THAT THE ENGINE IS DOWN TO 2 QUARTZ OF ENGINE OIL. I HAVE KEPT THE CAR ON SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE. ONE OF THE CUSTOMER AS THE DEALER SHIP THAT I HAD A CONVERSATION STATED THAT HE HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WHERE LEXUS CAN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM UNTIL THE ENGINE EXPLODED. I WENT ONLINE TO CHECK AND IT SEEMS LEXUS GS MODEL FROM 2006-2011 HAVE SIMILAR PROBLEMS. LEXUS REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE COST FOR THE FIX. IT IS IRRESPONSIBLE FOR LEXUS NOT TO RECALL THE CAR BECAUSE THE COST.
