2019 Lexus GX Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

The contact owns a 2019 Lexus GX460. While the contact’s wife was driving and exiting the driveway at the residence, the driver’s and passenger’s side side-view mirrors became distorted with crinkle-like lines. The contact stated that the lines obstructed driving visibility and the ability to safely operate the vehicle. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that a dimming solution between the glass of the sideview mirrors had caused the failure to occur. The contact linked that failure to a visit to the car wash the day prior to the discovery of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact attempted to contact the manufacturer and the dealer but was unsuccessful. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000.

Dec 12th 17:05 in I-880 south bound, 2019 Lexus GS460 rear window shattered with huge exploded sound, and rear wiper gone, and hydraulic rod which supported window fall down. there is no rock and any gun shot. there is not any alert. the temperature is 55 degree in bay area, and no heat/air condition is on. it is kind of risk for the driver and the behind car. I reported to Lexus customer support via online, and also claim for my car insurance.

HELLO, MY CAR IS TILTED TO THE RIGHT WHEN TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY. ALSO TILTED A LOT WHEN I TURN LEFT. THIS IS NOT NORMAL BECAUSE MY OTHER CARS DON'T BEHAVE LIKE THAT. I BROUGHT TO LEXUS DEALER BUT WAS INFORMED THE CAR IS NORMAL. HOWEVER, I NEED NTSB TO CHECK BECAUSE I DON'T FEEL SAFE WITH THIS CAR. NOTE: I THINK THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT BECAUSE THERE ARE OTHER PEOPLE WHO COMPLAINED ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM.

LEXUS KEEP SENDING US A RECALL NOTICE (NO 20V682) BUT WITH REMEDY NOT AVAILABLE. IT HAS BEEN MORE THAN A YEAR WERE WE ARE TOLD OUR CAR MIGHT STALL DURING DRIVING. MY LEASE WILL EXPIRE THIS DECEMBER AND I AM STILL DRIVING A CAR THAT I AM TOLD IS NOT SAFE. I HAVE BEEN AVOIDING LONG TRIP WITH THE CAR FOR THIS REASON. LEXUS NEED TO COME UP WITH A REMEDY AND COMPENSATE THE CURRENT OWNER/LESSEE. MY CAR DID NOT STALL YET BUT HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO DRIVE A CAR YOU ARE TELLING ME IT MIGHT STALL.

WHEN PUTTING THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE THE SIDEVIEW MIRRORS AUTOMATICALLY TURN IN AND DOWN PER LEXUS DEFAULT. PROBLEM IS YOU CANNOT OVERRIDE THE DEFAULT TO ADJUST THEM FOR A CLEAR VIEW TO THE REAR, WHICH MEANS EVERY TIME YOU BACK-UP YOU HAVE TO ADJUST THEM. THAT CREATES 2 SAFETY ISSUES: FIRST BEING SOMETIME I AM IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET TRYING TO ADJUST THE MIRROR TO I CAN BACK-UP, SECOND IF I DON'T I COULD POSSIBLE DAMAGE OR INJURE SOMETHING OR SOMEONE. I AM A RETIED TRACTOR-TRAILER OPERATOR, WAS ALSO INSTRUCTOR QUALIFIED IN THE MILITARY, AN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATOR IN THE MILITARY, AND HAVE OVER A MILLION MILES UNDER MY BELT. I SAY THIS SO YOU UNDERSTAND IF THIS WAS THE MILITARY I WOULD NOT LET ANY OF MY SOLDIERS OPERATE THIS VEHICLE WITH THE DEFAULT LEXUS HAS SET THE MIRRORS AT. I HAVE NOTIFIED LEXUS, BUT THEY ARE TAKING IT AS A DISSATISFIED CUSTOMER INSTEAD OF A SAFETY ISSUE AND THE POSSIBILITY OF THE MAJOR RAMIFICATIONS THIS COULD CAUSE (I.E. DAMAGE, INJURY, DEATH, ETC.) WHILE BACKING UP. THE PICTURE I AM SENDING IS TAKEN FROM HEAD HEIGHT LIKE I WAS LOOKING AT THE MIRROR, WHICH SHOWS WHAT I SEE EVERY TIME I PUT THE VEHICLE IN REVERSE.
