Driver’s side door handle/mechanism/latch failure results in issues with opening and closing door representing a potentially major safety issue. Door could open on its own at highway speeds resulting in mass injury and/or death resultant from driver falling out of uncontrolled vehicle. Multiple owners of same year/make/model have reported malfunction of the same driver’s side handle as demonstrated below: https://youtu.be/26SLPCm_mnM

BROUGHT CAR INTO DEALERSHIP FOR A FUEL PUMP RECALL . I TOOK IT HOME AND PARKED IT IN THE GARAGE TILL LATER THAT WEEK . WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT I NOTICED IT HAD A SMILE AND SMOKE CAME OUT INTO THE CABIN . SO PULLED OVER AND CALLED MY LOCAL LEXUS DEALER AND TOLD THEM WHAT WAES GOING ON . THE SERVICE MANAGER THEN TOLD ME TO DRIVE THIS CAR TO THE DEALER . I SAID NO WAY .SO HE TOLD ME TO CALL A TOW. WHILE I WAS WAITING FOR THE TOW TRUCK I LIFTED UP THE HOOD SO OTHERS WOULD KNOW MY CAR IS BROKEN DOWN . SO I LOOKED TO SEE WHAT HAD HAPPENED, I NOTICE THE FUEL PUMP HAD YES BOLTS IN THEM . ALL THE BOLTS WERE MISSING SO THE FUEL PUMP WAS DANGLING THEIR . WHEN I TOLD THEM THAT I DID NOT FELL SAFE IN THIS CAR AND IT'S NOT ORIGINAL ANYMORE . THEY TOLD ME THEY FIXED EVERYTHING ON IT . I TOLD THEM I DON'T WANT THE CAR CAUSE YOU REPLACE THE HEAD OF THE ENGINE AND MUCH MORE THINGS THAT'S MAKES THE CAR NOT A MATCHING NUMBER CAR . I TOLD THEM ALL I WANT IS A REPLACE CAR . MY CAR IS NOT SAFE ANYMORE I CAN'T TAKE MY WIFE AND KIDS ANYMORE IN IT . SO THEY HAD THE SERVICE MANAGER CALL ME AND TELL ME HEY I NEED MY LOANER CAR BACK AND I DID EVERYTHING WE CAN TO FIX YOUR CAR , LIKE HE WAS DOING ME A FAVOR ? AND HE IF YOU NOT HAPPY YOU CAN SUE US . I DINT FEEL LIKE I WAS TREATING FAIRLY WITH THIS INCIDENT, WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT THIS ?

THIS IS AN ADDENDUM TO MY PREVIOUS COMPLAINT NUMBER 11021722 REGARDING MALFUNCTION OF BLIND SPOT MONITORS AS I NEGLECTED TO INCLUDE THE HISTORY I HAVE HAD WITH THE DEALER. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER NO LESS THAN 4 TIMES. INITIALLY THEY ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM (TECHNICIAN RODE WITH ME) BUT COULD NOT RESOLVE IT. THEY ADMIT THAT OTHER CARS OF THIS MODEL ARE EXHIBITING THE SAME PROBLEM. NOW THEY ARE TELLING ME THAT LEXUS HAS MADE A "PLATFORM" CHANGE TO THE SYSTEM. I FIND IT DIFFICULT TO BELIEVE THAT A MANUFACTURER WOULD INTENTIONALLY CHANGE A SYSTEM TO MAKE IT UNRELIABLE. HAVING A SAFETY SYSTEM THAT ONLY WORKS ABOUT HALF THE TIME IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

BLIND SPOT MONITORS ON OUTSIDE MIRRORS ONLY REGISTER AT BEST ONLY APPROXIMATELY 50% OF THE TIME WHEN A CAR IS PASSED. THIS HAPPENS WHEN MY CAR IS MOVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS, ON DIFFERENT TYPES OF ROADS, AND WITH VARYING TYPES OF VEHICLES PASSED (IE.SEMIS, SPORTS CARS, BOX TRUCKS, ETC.).

Manufacturer communications
A bulletin sent by a manufacturer to its dealers. Not a recall, and repairs are not necessarily free.
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM:INSTRUMENT PANEL:FUEL GAUGE; FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE
TSB: Some 2013 ? 2020 model year Lexus vehicles may exhibit a hard start and/or MIL ON condition with one or more of the following Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs): ?DTC P0171 and/or P0174 (System Too Lean Bank 1/Bank 2) ?DTC P0087 Fuel Rail / System Pressure ? Too Low Techstream data list analysis may reveal positive fuel trims including a no pressure condition verified by a manual fuel pressure gauge. The settlement includes Lexus?s agreement to provide a Customer Support Program for certain 2013-2020 model year (MY) vehicles originally equipped with low pressure fuel pumps repaired under Safety Recall 20LA01 or Special Service Campaign 21LC01. OBSOLETE NOTICE December 08, 2022: This bulletin is now obsolete. Please see L-SB-0057-22
EQUIPMENT:ELECTRICAL:NAVIGATIONAL SYSTEM(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM)
TSB: Some 2018 ? 2022 model year Lexus vehicles equipped with the Enform? 2.0 Navigation System, require a Special Service Tool (SST) USB flash drive to update the map, points of interest, and system software. The SST is used with applicable vehicles to deliver the update, however, the process for generating license keys differs from previous generations. Before attempting to perform a map update, the expiration date of the dynamic subscription (stored in the head unit), must be checked. If the expiration date has not passed, a license key may be generated without the purchase of an activation card number (ACN). Updating the map without the use of an ACN is considered an Embedded Navigation Update (refer to pg. 10) and performing this update does not extend the subscription to dynamic map services. If the subscription period has expired, or is expiring within the next 90 days, it should be recommended to the customer to purchase an ACN. Utilizing an ACN, will initiate the Dynamic Navigation Update (refer to pg. 4). This Dynamic Navigation Update will perform the embedded navigation update and provide dynamic map services for a period of two years from the date that the Dynamic Navigation Update is performed. ACNs are provided in a pamphlet available through the normal parts ordering system
SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC
TSB: All 2018 ? 2022 model year LC 500 and LC 500h, and 2022 model year LC 500 Convertible vehicles are equipped with high-friction brake pads specifically designed for superior braking performance and response. As a result, the front or rear brakes may exhibit a squeal/squeak noise. For customers who find these characteristics objectionable, brake pads with alternative material are now available as service parts.

Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.

Complaint and recall counts across every year of this model
Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers. Older model years have had longer for reports to accumulate.
