2017 Lexus NX200 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

WHILE PARKED I NOTICED DROPS OF COOLANT IN MY GARAGE. WATER PUMP HAD FAILED AND SPEWED ALL OVER THE ENGINE. FAN MOTOR WAS BURNED OUT. ONE OF THE FANS ALSO WAS BROKE. ALL AT THE SAME TIME. I BELIEVE THE WATER PUMP FAILURE CAUSED THE FAN MOTOR TO BE DAMAGED. I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG I HAD BEEN DRIVING LIKE THAT SINCE IT DIDN'T OVERHEAT. THIS COULD HAPPEN TO OTHERS AND THEY MAY NOT BE IN A SAFE LOCATION WHEN IT HAPPENS.

DOORS OPEN BY ITSELF DURING DRIVING. THIS ALREADY HAPPENS TO MY LEXUS NX 200T 2017 MODEL TWICE THIS YEAR. THE FIRST TIME HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY INTERCHANGE. I WAS GETTING TO A LEFT TURN FREEWAY INTERCHANGE, THE REAR RIGHT DOOR AT MY KID'S CAR SEAT SIDE OPENED BY ITSELF. MY DAUGHTER WAS SO SCARED AND MY WIFE HELD THE DOOR BY HAND UNTIL WE LEFT THE FREEWAY AND PARKED. THE SECOND TIME HAPPENED WHEN I MADE A RIGHT TURN TO A PARKING STRUCTURE FROM THE LOCAL STREET, THE LEFT DOOR AT THE DRIVER SIDE WAS SWING-OUT OPEN BY ITSELF. I WAS LUCKY THERE WAS NO CAR DRIVING NEXT TO ME. THIS CAR WILL MAKE A WARNING ALARM IF ANY OF THE DOORS ARE NOT CLOSED PROPERLY BEFORE IT MOVES. BOTH TWO TIMES THERE WASN'T A WARNING ALARM UNTIL THE DOOR OPENED BY ITSELF AFTER 25-40 MINS' DRIVE. THE MANUFACTURE AND DEALER PLAY BALL I TRIED TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER, AND THEY ASKED TO DEAL WITH LOCAL LEXUS DEALER. I WENT TO LEXUS DEALER, THEY CHECKED MY CAR BY SIMPLY PUSHING THE DOORS AND TOLD ME NOTHING HAPPENS, THE DOORS ARE GOOD. THEY TOLD ME THEY WILL REPORT THE ISSUE TO MANUFACTURE TO SEE WHAT THEY CAN DO. I KEPT CALLING THE SERVICE DIRECTOR FROM LEXUS DEALER TO FOLLOW UP WITH MY CASE DURING A COUPLE OF DAYS AFTER I BACKED FROM THE DEALER. IT WAS SUPER HARD TO CATCH HIM ON THE PHONE, AND THE LAST TIME I WAS TALKED THEY CAN'T DO ANYTHING AND I HAVE TO LIVE WITH IT! I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY ASKED ME TO LIVE WITH A LIFE-THREATENING ISSUE WITHOUT DOING ANYTHING FOR ME.

Higher-selling and older vehicles accumulate more reports. Counts are not failure rates and are not directly comparable between vehicles that sold in very different numbers.
