Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

Through a title search that ended up not being my title number at all And forcing me to do even more research I discovered that the vehicle I bought three weeks ago has a report on public record that caused structural damage to my vehicle and I still don’t have a title for this vehicle because Carvana has the title for my vehicle and I’m having problems touching base with them. They seem to be avoiding me. The vehicle is in my front yard available for inspection whenever you feel is necessary the damage to the vehicle happened in [XXX] where it ended up for sale at Carvana and then at wholesale to ADESA and then to a private used Dealership named Motion Motors LLC. I paid $9500 for this vehicle whose price started at $7260 And I know that ADESA deals with structurally damage damaged and junk vehicles. They have every resource at their fingertips to fix repair and restore all such vehicles if found viable. The used car dealership presented me with a title sent me a copy of it that is bogus. The title number actually goes to a 1993 Mercury that was destroyed in March 2012 along with that title number now underneath that title number. My Lincoln is also listed along with that 1993 Mercury under the same title number. Two vehicles I’ve never seen anything like that in my life. The title number printed on the title is XXX. The title for my Lincoln that is available underneath the VIN number is. XXX. Carvana has a title with a totally different title number that is still their title. It was never sent with my truck from [XXX] and it was never changed over to [XXX] and it still hasn’t been meanwhile my temporary Tag and temporary registration expire on August 4 I am going to have a vehicle in my driveway that I can’t drive and don’t own. I would also like to recover $9500 for the purchase of the vehicle that I don’t own. I have any and all documentation of all of this and more. The numbers don’t match the dates don’t make any sense. Something is happening. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (

The contact owns a 2014 Lincoln MKX. The contact stated that while attempting to reverse, the rearview camera became inoperable. The contact stated that a message was displayed, indicating that the camera was unavailable. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but was not diagnosed or repaired. The vehicle was then taken to a dealer, but was also not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer suggested that the rearview camera system might need to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 119,000.

Engine
Filed Oct 8, 2025
This automobile has a 3.7-liter engine manufactured by Ford Motor Company. We are the second owner of the vehicle. A dealer representative informed us the motor has an inherent defect while inspecting pinch weld failures. This engine, transversely mounted, was created whereby the chain driven water pump is located behind the front casing placing access on the passenger side of the vehicle. Water pumps have planned obsolescence and when these water pumps fail, the antifreeze drains into the engine crankcase mixing with the engine oil causing catastrophic failure of the engine within minutes of the water pump failure. This is a significant safety hazard causing the engine to seize and when at expressway driving could cause a serious accident due to the sudden loss of power and being stranded on the side of the road. There are approximately four (4) million vehicles manufactured by Ford and Mazda with the 3.5 and 3.7 liter transversely mounted engines. As the vehicles age, the water pump failure can occur between 120-150,000 miles rendering the vehicle incapacitated wherever the failure occurs. From my research, there is no prior warning of the failure. The cost to replace the pump is 2-3,000 USD and the engine is approximately 7,000 USD. Contacting the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration would be our only recourse in a remedy for this defect. The 2014 Lincoln MKX FWD/AWD remains a beautiful and a functional vehicle, the type you would want to retain for many years beyond its initial service interval. We would therefore request the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration investigate this matter and mandate the manufacturer implement a cost effective retrofit to replace the water pump prior to failure or issue a full recall of the vehicles, compelling the manufacturer to provide a fair market value buy back to the current owners of the vehicles. We have factual data to support this claim and the severity of the encounter when the pump fails.

Backup camera will be upside down at times and this seems to happen when you really need the help of the camera. I have had the check with your dealership come up when it doesn't work at all and they didn't have any answers for me. I see there are several vehicles out there that are having the same problem and there is a recall on them. I would appreciate your help with this. I haven't had any accident with this but would really like to have this fixed. Thank you, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

A year ago, Lincoln issued a "voluntary recall" for a safety issue affecting loss of power brake assist due to a problem with the Electronic Brake Booster, identical to the recall recently issued for newer models. I took my Lincoln to the dealership, only to be told they cannot fix it unless it is happening when you bring it in. It is a very sporadic failure, lasts for a short time, and impossible to predict. So, while they claimed to have issued a 'voluntary recall', it is ineffective since the sporadic nature makes it impossible to get it fixed. Then the voluntary recall expired a few months after they sent out the notice.

The ABS module has failed. Lincoln doesn't have one and they don't know when the will. Apparently (from what I gather from Lincoln Corporate) there is a plethora of these units that have failed. Why is this not a safety recall?

Continious soft brake pedal , with failure of brakes a couple of times nearly causing wreck. Auto inspected by Reineke Ford Findlay, Oh. Needs replacement of ABS brake module - hydrolic and electrical. No warning lights ever. Ford needs to extend the ABS module recall to include additional years, one of those being my 2014 MKX. To add to problem, even if I could afford to fix $2,000.00 repair......parts are on backorder........hence defining what a problem this is! This has been going on since April 2024.

I was driving and went to apply the brakes and they went almost to the floor, with very little braking ability. Thankfully I was going uphill and the car in front of me was not too close or I would have hit that car. And in a snowstorm to boot! I had no warning lights or any other indication that my brakes were going to suddenly go very soft. I got the car to my mechanic and he stated that the brake booster was leaking and needed to be replaced, and that is what caused the loss of pressure in the braking system. He said that there was a service bulletin #13N02 for that exact same problem for model years up to 2013, but because I had a 2014, the cost of the repair was not covered.

In 2021 I took vehicle in for intermittent soft brakes where the pedal would suddenly sink to the floor. Dealer replaced brake booster under warranty. Issue was still intermittent and 2 months into driving after the booster was replaced I suddenly lost all brakes. Took vehicle to dealer and now I am out of warranty and they claim there is a bad Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) for the ABS system. Said there’s nothing they can do and it’s a separate issue even though it’s the same issue they failed to correct previously. The part number is DT4Z-2C215-A. I believe this is a replacement part for the obsolete BT4Z-2C215-A. The dealer is now quoting me $2000 for the fox and said it’s very common issue. Looking at other safety bulletins the year of my vehicle wasn’t included and believe it was either cut off at 2010/2011’s. But if most vehicles still have this issue 2012-2015 then why were they not included in the safety recall. I believe losing brakes warrants a recall especially sudden intermittent loss. Luckily the times I’ve lost my brakes I wasn’t on the freeway or in bumper to bumper traffic where I needed them.

on or about dec 24, 2022 while driving my brakes would not engage the pedal went to the floodboard. Mechanic inspection of my vehicle found that the control assy -ABS Hydraulics had failed . This was the 3rd incident the mechanic had found in the last month. Ford motor has acknowledged the problem but no parts are available. Over 900 customers are waiting for parts since the beginning of December 2022 (that we know of). There is no estimate time of when this part will be available and many vehicles to include mine are on the road with improperly working brakes.

In 2021 had an issue with brakes failing and becoming unresponsive/difficult to press almost causing a crash. Vehicle was inspected and the dealer replaced the brake booster and a vaccum line. This didn’t fix the issue. Recently had the same problem occur again where the brakes are intermittent and sometimes become soft and sink to the floor while driving. Apparently a bunch of people have been having this issue and the fix for it is to put your vehicle into reverse going 20mph and to slam on the brakes several times until the brakes become firm. Apparently there must be an issue with the ABS/HCU having a valve stick. Have seen Ford and Lincoln recall older cars up to 2010 in the past few years for DOT 3 causing corrosion to cause valve in HCU to stick. Remedy had dealer flush DOT 3 brake fluid and put DOT 4 and change HCU and master cylinder cap to say DOT 4 fluid. No recalls for my 2014 but I believe this is definitely a safety issue that should be addressed. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=EqIkUE46Kvk

I HAD NOTICED A WEEK PRIOR TO DRIVING TO WORK EVERYDAY THAT MY BRAKES WERE SOMETIMES GOING TO THE FLOOR AND SOMETIMES STOPPING ALL THE WAY UP MAKING THE PEDAL HARD TO PUSH. I DRIVE 20 MILES BOTH DIRECTIONS DAILY SO I AM ON THE HIGHWAY TO WORK. ON A MONDAY MORNING I EXITED OFF THE INTERSTATE AND I HAD NO BRAKES THEY WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR SO I IMMEDIATELY DROVE IT TO THE NEAREST BRAKE REPAIR SHOP JUST DOWN THE STREET FROM WHERE I WORK. I HAD JUST HAD MY CAR AT THE DEALERSHIP ON FRIDAY PRIOR TO THE HAPPENING ON MONDAY FOR A COMPLETE SERVICE. THE BRAKE SERVICE REPAIR SHOP CALLED AND SAID IT WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THAT WAS HAPPENING TO SEVERAL OF THE FORD EDGES AND MY LINCOLN MKX IS ON THE SAME MAKE AS THE FORD EDGE. I CALLED LINCOLN GOT A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP AND HE SAID IT IS NOT COVERED. YOU ARE OUT OF WARRANTY SO I ASKED HIM TO CHECK IF THEY HAD HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH IT. HE TOLD ME NO. I JUST LEARNED THIS WEEK FROM A REPAIR SHOP LOCALLY THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTERS WERE ON RECALL AND THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT. I ALSO CALLED LINCOLN AGAIN AND QUESTIONED THEM SHE SAID THEY HAD NO RECORD OF ME CALLING. I TOLD THEM YOU MIGHT NOT HAVE RECORDS BUT I DID MAKE THE CALL AND MY CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE RECALL LIST. I HAVE OWNED SEVERAL FORD VEHICLES AND A BREAK BOOSTER HAS NEVER GONE OUT ON ANY OF MY VEHICLES. THIS IS A BAD MANUFACTURED PRODUCT AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT BROKE. THE REPAIR SHOP I TOOK IT TO SAID YOU CAN NO DRIVE THIS CAR. I RECEIVED A DEFECTIVE PART ON MY CAR AND THEY SHOULD HAVE RECALLED IT AND REPLACED IT BY LINCOLN. THEY ALSO TOLD ME BECAUSE I DIDN'T TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED BUT I COULD NOT GET IT TO A DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I HAD NOT BREAKS. THEY SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME THAT WHEN I CALLED LINCOLN THE DAY IT BROKE BUT THEY DIDN'T. I FEEL LIKE THEY SHOULD REFUND THE EXPENSE FOR THIS REPAIRS

I WAS IN BACK OF MY MKX IN DRIVEWAY OF MY SISTERS HOME. I WAS TRYING TO GET THE TAILGATE DOOR TO OPEN AND IT WOULDN'T OPEN. I TRIED THREE TIMES TO OPEN WITH THE RELEASE BUTTON. IT WOULD NOT OPEN. SO I WENT OPENED AND STOOD AT THE DOOR TO PRESS THE RELEASE BUTTON FROM INSIDE TWICE AND IT STILL WOULDN'T OPEN THE TAILGATE. AS MY SISTER WAS COMING OUT OF HER HOME SHE WAS YELLING FOR ME TO MOVE MOVE BECAUSE I HAD NOT NOTICED THAT THE MKX WAS ROLLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY. WITH ME STILL STANDING OUTSIDE OF IT. I FINALLY JUST FEEL BECAUSE I COULDN'T KEEP UP OR JUMP IN TO STOP IT. I FELL TO CEMENT IN MIDDLE OF STREET. MY SISTER KEPT YELLING FOR ME TO MOVE AS THE MKX WAS ROLLING AND THE WHEELS WERE TURNING TOWARDS MY LEGS. THANK GOD IT DIDN'T RUN OVER ME. THIS WAS A HORRIBLE AND SCARY EXPERIENCE. MY SISTER GOT IN THE MKX TO GET IT OUT OF THE STREET. SHE SAID IT WAS IN REVERSE. IT WAS IN PARK FOR A FACT AS I WAS IN THE BACK FOR MINUTES TRYING TO OPEN THE TAILGATE. THIS HAPPENED ON 1426 PEPPERTREE LN 77015 WHERE MY SISTER LIVES.

WIFE WAS DRIVING HOME IN MKX, LESS THAN 1000' FROM HOME, AND HEARD A LOUD POP THAT SOUNDED LIKE A GUN SHOT. DIDN'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED UNTIL SHE GOT HOME AND WE LOOKED ALL AROUND. DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING UNTIL WE RAISED BACK HATCH DOOR AND HEARD GLASS BREAKING AND FALLING. LOOKED ON TOP AND NOTICED THAT THE VISTA ROOF HAD EXPLODED. SHE WAS GOING LESS THAN 30 MPH THANKFULLY AND SUN ROOF WAS COMPLETELY CLOSED. RESEARCHED THIS ONLINE AND FOUND IT TO BE A PROBLEM ON A LOT OF CARS, EVEN FOUND CLASS ACTION CASE BUT IT WAS DISMISSED IN 2016 FOR SOME REASON. WHAT WILL IT TAKE FOR THIS TO BE CORRECTED...DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO LOSE THEIR LIFE BECAUSE OF THIS? WHAT IF YOU WERE TRAVELING ON THE INTERSTATE AND THIS HAPPENED? COULD BE A REAL PROBLEM! I DON'T HAVE PICS TO DOWNLOAD YET BECAUSE I TOOK IT TO FORD DEALERSHIP BUT THEY STILL HAVE THE CAR. SERVICE MANAGER HAS TRIED TO GET HELP FROM FORD BUT THEY REFUSE. I DO SEE WHERE SEVERAL HAVE GOTTEN SOME MONETARY RESPONSE FROM FORD, BUT IT WAS AFTER A LOT OF TROUBLE AND HASSLE. SOMEONE, EITHER FORD OR THE GLASS MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS.
