The defect: MACK IS RECALLING 34,269 MY 1999-2005 CX AND MY 2004-2008 CXN TRUCKS. THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH MAY PREMATURELY FAIL RESULTING IN INOPERATIVE OR INTERMITTENT HEADLIGHTS.
The risk: THE HEAD LIGHTS MAY NOT OPERATE PROPERLY WHICH COULD RESULT IN INTERMITTENT OR NO HEADLIGHT FUNCTION. THIS COULD IMPAIR A DRIVER'S VISIBILITY, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE HEADLIGHT SWITCH. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 27, 2009. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MACK AT 1-800-528-6586.

The defect: ON CERTAIN TRUCKS, THE BOLTS THAT ATTACH THE STEERING GEAR TO THE FRAME MAY NOT HAVE BEEN TIGHTENED TO THE SPECIFIED TORQUE.
The risk: LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL COULD OCCUR INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL TIGHTEN THE BOLTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON DECEMBER 10, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MACK TRUCKS AT 1-800-528-6586.

TRAILER HITCHES:FIFTH WHEEL ASSEMBLY

The defect: ON CERTAIN TRUCKS EQUIPPED WITH A SAF HOLLAND SIMPLEX FIFTH WHEEL, THE LEVER ARM PIVOT BOLT MAY HAVE BEEN OVER TIGHTENED. AN OVER TIGHTENED PIVOT BOLT CAN DISTORT THE PIVOT BOLT SPACER SLEEVE, WHICH MAY PREVENT THE FIFTH WHEEL LATCH JAW FROM CLOSING AND LATCHING SECURELY AROUND THE TRAILER KING PIN.
The risk: THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE PIVOT BOLT CAN BECOME LOOSE WITHOUT THE DRIVER'S KNOWLEDGE. WHEN THIS OCCURS, THE DRIVER COULD DRIVE AWAY AND THE TRAILER COULD BECOME DISENGAGED, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE PIVOT BOLT AND SLEEVE WITH A HEX HEAD SHOULDER BOLT AND WASHER FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JANUARY 28, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MACK TRUCKS AT 1-800-528-6586.

TSB: Mack Trucks now offer an improved HD Inter-Axle Through Shaft for the CRD 125, 150, 180, and 200 family carriers. The new HD shaft went into production on January 23rd, 2023 for 2.54 - 3.50 axle ratios and April 1st, 2023 for 3.56 - 3.98 ratios. The new HD through shaft is an upgrade over the current standard shaft and can now be used as a replacement part instead of the standard shaft. The new HD shaft has a new design to increase strength, longevity and life over the standard shaft.
