The defect: MACK IS RECALLING 218 MY 2006-2007 MR TRUCKS. A CHECK VALVE WAS OMITTED FROM THE SECONDARY SUPPLY PORT OF THE SR-7 SPRING BRAKE MODULATING VALVE.
The risk: AS A RESULT, AN AIR LEAK IN THE SECONDARY OR PRIMARY SYSTEM MAY RESULT IN THE PARK BRAKES INADVERTENTLY APPLYING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL ADD A CHECK VALVE TO THE SECONDARY SUPPLY PORT OF THE SR-7 SPRING BRAKE MODULATING VALVE AND WILL ALSO REPAIR THE SR-7 VALVE BY APPLYING A CHECK VALVE REPAIR KIT AS REQUIRED FOR THE BENDIX SAFETY RECALL (PLEASE SEE 07E-037). THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 15, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MACK AT 1-800-528-6586.

FUEL SYSTEM, DIESEL:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY

The defect: ON CERTAIN DIESEL POWERED HEAVY DUTY TRUCKS, THE BOLTS ATTACHING THE FUEL TANK MOUNTING BRACKETS TO THE FRAME MAY HAVE INSUFFICIENT TORQUE AND THEREFORE MAY RESULT IN PREMATURE FAILURE OF THE FUEL TANK MOUNTING.
The risk: IF THE FUEL TANK FALLS, THERE IS THE POTENTIAL FOR THE TANK TO IGNITE, RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY, VEHICLE AND PROPERTY DAMAGE.
The remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT AND REPLACE THE FUEL TANK BRACKET MOUNTING BOLTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 6, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT MACK TRUCKS AT 1-800-528-6586.

Safety recall

Safety investigation
NHTSA opens an investigation to examine whether a safety defect may exist. An open investigation is not a determination that a defect exists, and many investigations close without a recall. Investigations can, however, lead to one.
Manufacturer communication
Manufacturers file copies of the bulletins they send to dealers with NHTSA. These often describe diagnostic or repair procedures for a known condition. They are not recalls: repairs described in a bulletin are usually only free if the vehicle is still under warranty or the manufacturer has extended coverage.
