The defect: McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2020 Bridgemaster Mixer vehicles. These mixer trucks do not have the position at which the pusher axles should be operated listed on the information plate.
The risk: If the position in which the pusher axles should be operated is not listed, the operator may not know how the pusher axle should be positioned while the vehicle is not carrying a load, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: McNeilus will notify owners and provide a new information plate, free of charge. The recall began December 21, 2020. Owners may contact McNeilus customer service at 1-888-686-7278.

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing identified an issue with over-torqued bolts on the lower ladder platform. The bolts used to secure the lower ladders to the lower ladder platform were over-torqued causing the bolts to fail. New hardware needs to be installed in placed of the over-torqued bolts.

SUSPENSION

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing has identified an issue where certain McNeilus Bridgemaster® vehicles produced between July 1, 2020 and April 17, 2022 may have the incorrect compensator setting on the pump which controls the maximum pressure adjustment for the tag axle. In some cases, the maximum pressure may be set to 2900 psi instead of 3200 psi. If the maximum pressure was not set correctly, depending on the load configuration of the truck, this may place additional weight on certain axles and may not allow the truck to conform to local bridge laws. The steering, braking, and handling of the truck is not affected by this issue.

In this technical service information bulletin, McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing releases information for new decals created for the mixer serial number and Bridgemaster® Axle serial number. These new decals replace stamped serial numbers on the mixer front pedestal. The decals will be printed with the correct serial number for your mixer and if it is a Bridgemaster Mixer, then the serial number for your Bridgemaster Axle will have an additional decal. These new decals are located on the inside of the driver’s doorjamb, near the complete vehicle decal.
