The defect: McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Volterra ZSL side loader garbage trucks. A software error may cause the grabber fingers to move without input from the operator.
The risk: Grabber fingers that unintentionally moves may strike a person or vehicle next to the truck, increasing the risk of injury or a crash.
The remedy: McNeilus will update the software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 5, 2026. Owners may contact McNeilus customer service at 1-888-686-7278.

The defect: McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2024-2025 Volterra side loader trucks. The intermediate side reflex reflectors may be missing. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
The risk: Missing reflectors can reduce the vehicle's visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.
The remedy: McNeilus will install the side reflectors, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 9, 2025. Owners may contact McNeilus Customer Service at 1-888-686-7278.

The defect: McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2020-2022 STD Mixer and Bridgemaster Mixer Trucks. The labels that provide instructions to the operator on the proper operation of the mixer's functions were not installed.
The risk: The operator may not be aware of the proper operation of the mixer's functions, increasing the risk of an injury.
The remedy: McNeilus will inspect and install any missing labels, as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on July 18, 2022. Owners may contact McNeilus' customer service at 1-888-868-7278.

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing provides these instructions for the installation of new bushings for the service cleanout door for all Side Loader refuse vehicles. The new bushings can help provide a tighter seal on the door.

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing provides updated Preventive Maintenance schedule and instructions for an initial (within 500 miles or 6 months of service) retorque of the front axle U-bolts to 500 ft.-lbs. and semi-annually or every 12,000 miles (whichever comes first) retorque of the U-bolts to 500 ft.-lbs. The vehicle’s service maintenance manual reflects the same update.

The updated pressure switch has a higher pressure activation and reset values which reduces the delay experienced with the previous pressure switch and addresses an unintended door alarm.

McNeilus Truck and Manufacturing identified an issue with over-torqued bolts on the lower ladder platform. The bolts used to secure the lower ladders to the lower ladder platform were over-torqued causing the bolts to fail. New hardware needs to be installed in placed of the over-torqued bolts.
