1998 Mercedes-Benz C220 Owner Complaints

Reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers, shown in full

Data refreshed

Complaints on fileComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

THE CAR IS EXTREMELY UNSTEADY ON THE FREEWAYS WHEN DRIVING ABOUT 70-78 OR MORE MILES PER HOUR. THIS HAPPENS WHEN A BREEZE HITS THE CAR OR WHEN PASSING BIG TRUCKS. THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES VEAR OVER TO THE WARNING BUMPS EVEN WITH BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL.IT HAS BEEN IN FOR ATTEMPTED (ABOUT 8) REPAIRS SINCE IT WAS ONE MONTH "OLD". DEALER DRIVES HAVE BEEN NEGATIVE.HUSBAND AND WIFE BOTH EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS.THIS HAPPENS TOO OFTEN TO BE SAFE ON THE FREEWAY DESPITE DEALERS NEGATIVE DRIVE . I KEEP MY HANDS AT 10/2 BUT IT WILL SWERVE BY ITSELF TO THE WARNING TRACK BUMPS. I EXPECT SOME SMALL MOVEMENT WITH BIG TRUCKS AND LARGE WIND GUSTS BUT THIS IS NOT WHAT IS HAPPENING.
