1993 Mercury Grand Marquis Interior & seats Problems

Owner-reported complaints naming the interior system, filed with NHTSA

Data refreshed

Interior & seats reportsComplaints are reports submitted to NHTSA by owners and drivers. NHTSA does not verify most reports before publishing them, and a complaint does not establish that a defect exists. Volume is influenced by how many of a vehicle were sold, how long it has been on the road, and how much attention an issue has received.

THE DRIVER'S SIDE SEAT HAS BEEN LOOSE FOR A WHILE. THE POWER CONTROLS TO ADJUST SEAT POSITION FAILED OVER A YEAR AGO. THE DAY BEFORE YESTERDAY ON THE WAY HOME FROM WORK MY HUSBAND EXPERIENCED THE FEELING OF THE SEAT DISCONNECTING. IT HAS DETACHED FROM THE TRACK. THE WELDING BECAME UNWELDED. THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT HAS NOT BEEN LATCHING FOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE INCIDENT AND FOUND THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THESE SAME PROBLEMS AND YET FORD MOTOR COMPANY SAYS THAT THERE IS NO DEFECT. WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE AS OF YET. WE ARE UNABLE TO AFFORD REPAIRS. IT IS OUR ONLY FAMILY VEHICLE. AND THEREFORE WE CANNOT GO ANYWHERE FOR FEAR OF SAFETY REASONS. HOWEVER MY HUSBAND MUST STILL DRIVE TO AND FROM WORK. *TR

WHEN WE 1ST BOUGHT THE CAR THE DRIVERS SEAT HAD A LOT OF MOVEMENT. BROUGHT IT TO DEALER AND THE REPLACED THE FRAME. THAT WAS IN 1994. IN 1997 I WAS DRIVING AND THE ENTIRE SEAT CAME OFF THE FRAME. I WAS TOLD THE IT NEEDED TO BE WELDED BACK ON AND I PAID OVER $300. TWO YEARS LATER THE SEAT HAS BROKEN FROM THE TRACK AGAIN. I DON'T TRUST THAT THE SEAT IS SAFE. I CALLED FORD AND THE SAID THEY WOULDN'T PAY FOR THE REPAIR. I FEEL THIS IS SOMETHING THAT SHOULD NEVER BREAK NO LESS 3 TIMES AND I SHOULDN'T BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE CAR DEALER THAT FIXED IT THE LAST TIME ALSO SAID THEY WOULDN'T BE RESPONSIBLE BECAUSE IT IS OUT OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD. PLEASE HELP!!! THE CAR IS NOT A STATION WAGON AND I DIDN'T HAVE AN ACCIDENT.
