The defect: Corp. Micro Bird, Inc. (Micro Bird) is recalling certain 2019, 2021-2026 G5E school buses. The power steering pump may fail to start when the ignition is turned on or may shutdown unexpectedly.
The risk: A loss of power steering assist can increase the risk of a crash.
The remedy: Dealers will inspect and update the software as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed February 18, 2026. Owners can contact Micro Bird Customer Service at 819-477-2012. Micro Bird's number for this recall is 25-119-PUS.

POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION:PARK/NEUTRAL START INTERLOCK SWITCH

The defect: Corp. Micro Bird, Inc. (Micro Bird) is recalling certain 2025-2026 G5e school buses. The transmission interlock may allow the vehicle to be put into gear when the rear emergency door is locked. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 217, "Bus Emergency Exits and Window Retention and Release."
The risk: An emergency exit that is locked can prevent or delay occupants from exiting the vehicle during an emergency, increasing the risk of injury.
The remedy: Dealers will inspect and repair the transmission interlock as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 27, 2025. Owners can contact Micro Bird Customer Service at 819-477-2012. Micro Bird's number for this recall is 25-115-EUS.
